A new year and a new wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigure has been released, Series 13 (71008). The packaging for this series is more of a lime green color. Like with recent minifigures, they will retail for $3.99 each and there are 16 to collect.
Like with Series 12, Series 13 will be collaborating with the LEGO Minifigures Online video game where you can unlock the corresponding minifigure in-game but that’s not all. In one of our previous posts, we also talked about the “Collect & Win” thing LEGO has going with Series 13. Not only will you be able to unlock a character, there’s also a chance to win in game currency with free diamonds, looting Super Chests, 3 days of membership, or gaining Stars faster. If you enter your email, you can also try your luck to win some LEGO sets straight from the company. The more codes you enter, the more chances there are to win.
As with previous the past couple of series of minifigures I’ve been collecting, I’ve been using the feeling method to find the correct minifigures. You can read more about it on our feel guide post.
Classic King
The Classic King wears a red, blue, and yellow regalia and he also comes with a lot of good accessories. He also has two pieces of cloth to create his cape. There are black spots on the white cape to represent a fur design. He has a standard looking face with a moustache but what makes the King his royal self are his beard piece and hair/crown piece. The crown is a little more updated which also shows some of the longer hair kings have in the media today. His accessory is a sword which appears to be a different colored gold.
Sheriff
Next up for Series 13 is the Sheriff minifigure. He has your typical western look with the brown attire. The torso has printing of his badge and chain for his pocketwatch. He wears some brown pants which has some very nice holster printing on the side of his leg. He has a stone-faced expression on his face and the small moustache piece attached at the neck makes his look complete. His accessories include a revolver as well as a 2×2 printed Wanted tile.
Unicorn Girl
There’s no question that LEGO fans really like the costumed animal characters in the Collectible Minifigure series and Series 13 continues that trend with the Unicorn Girl. A majority of her torso and legs are white but there some colored star printing on said torso. She also has a new purple rubbery tail piece that attaches between the torso and legs. We saw a similiar piece with the Scratchy minifigure from the LEGO The Simpsons Series (71005). To complete the Unicorn look, she also has a horse headpiece with a spot for the white horn.
Snake Charmer
The next minifigure in Series 13 is the Snake Charmer. He wears a fairly long lime green shirt with some necklace printing. The legs also have some of the shirt printing as well. He has a curly moustached face with an blowing expression. Finally he wears a white turban. His accessory is a brown stick with I assume is to represent a pungi. The main attraction of the Snake Charmer is actually the new green cobra. There’s some printing on the body of the snake as well as on the hood.
Goblin
The Goblin wears a tattered brown shirt and pants. He has a standard looking green face to match the color of the rest of his skin. The headpiece is a new one that has pointy ears attached to it. This part is a little different than the one found with the Holiday Elf from Series 11 (71002). His accessories include a scimitar and a brown bag.
Paleontolgist
The Paleontolgist wears a tan outfit that you see typically people the profession wear. It’s actually a short sleeved one with scarf printing around the next. She also wears some tan shorts with tan boots. To match her outfit, the Paleontolgist also wears a tan safari hat with some brown hair on the back. Her accessories include a bone and a 1×1 round tile. The tile has printing of a fossil of what looks to be an ammonoidea.
Alien Trooper
Another long standing tradition in the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line is the space theme and it continues with Series 13 with the Alien Trooper. It has a blue and purple torso with some yellow orbs in the middle of the chest and waist. There’s also some back printing as well which is nice to see. The main draw of the Alien Trooper is the new green head. The look of it actually reminds me of Cthulhu’s head. Its accessory is a blaster of some sort that uses the Dino gun with a trans-neon green dish piece.
Egyptian Warrior
The Egyptian Warrior is pretty much what you expect to see during that time. He makes a very nice addition to the Egyptian theme with the Pharaoh from Series 2 and Pharaoh Queen from Series 5. He wears a white attire that is shown on both the front and back of the torso. The legs also continue with the same printing. He wears a newly designed headpiece which is pretty cool looking. He accessories include an inverted-looking shield and a Khopesh sword.
Carpenter
The next minifigure on the list is the new Carpenter who makes his first appearance and will be pretty popular with LEGO City builders. He wears a light blue short-sleeved shirt with some jeans. The printing on the legs are what stands out with the Carpenter. There’s printing of a toolbelt which shows some screwdrivers, pliers, and a ruler. There are also some tangible accessories included with the new saw piece and a printed 1×4 wooden tile. These planks are a very nice addition and will go nicely with many MOCs.
Evil Wizard
The Wizard now has an enemy in Series 13 with the Evil Wizard. The look of him is just awesome and from the looks of his appearance, he’s a fire based wizard. He wears a red robe with a skull printing on the lower torso as well as on the leg piece. He has red eyes and a long black beard piece. Another feature that the Evil Wizard has is the new capes that are included. It is actually two separate pieces that make up the collar and the rest of the cape. His accessory is a black staff with a fire piece on top. He actually reminds me of Max Von Sydow as Ming the Merciless from the Flash Gordon movie.
Fencer
LEGO keeps on surprising us and bringing new things to the minifigures line and this time, we get the Fencer. He does look a little bland with his white jacket but there is some printing to give him a not-so-boring look. Note that one of his hands is wearing a white glove as well. He has a confident smirking expression but you can’t really see it with his mask covering his head. From the looks of his rapier, he looks to be practicing either foil or épée fencing. This weapon has been used before in previous LEGO Collectible Minifigure series.
Samurai
To complement the male Samurai from Series 3, LEGO has release a female version for Series 13. She has a red torso with grey arms. The legs are also grey with some darker red to match the color of the armor piece she wears. The armor piece itself is a rubbery piece and is pretty bendable. Her hair is in a bun-type style. Her accessories are not one, but two katanas.
Disco Diva
LEGO sure likes to make counterparts in Series 13. The Disco Diva goes retro and joins the Disco Dude from Series 2 as the minifigures for this popular 70s music genre. She wears a purple shirt that is tied at the belly area. What’s nice is that the back of the torso as well as the arms both have printing. She has a happy expression while wearing purple shades and her afro hairstyle. Her accessories include a pair of white skates and a new pearl gold microphone.
Hot Dog Man
One of the fan favorites even before Series 13 was released was the Hog Dog Man. A lot of the comments I saw in preview shots were people wanting this guy. Even while I was at the store feeling for the whole collection, people were wanting to find the Hot Dog Guy the most. For the most boring parts of the minifigure, he has a plain tan torso and blue legs. The most detailed part of the minifigure is the hot dog shell piece that fits over the whole torso and legs. The suit is made up of a bun and hot dog in the middle with some mustard. This guy makes a great addition to a number of MOCs including sports scenes.
Lady Cyclops
Another female counterpart shows up again with the Lady Cyclops to match up with the Cyclops from Series 9. Unlike the male version, the female has a blue skin instead of a green one. However, she has some green tattered
cloth printing on both sides of the torso as well as on the front of the legs. The head itself is just an eye with a wide open side and a half open side. The headpiece that goes over the eye is the same as before but with a beauty mark.
Galaxy Trooper
The final minifigure in the Series 13 LEGO Collectible Minifigures is the Galaxy Trooper. He is similar to the Galaxy Patrol from Series 7 but with some slight differences. He has a total black torso with grey hands. The legs are also black with some grey designs. The armor piece is also grey and here’s where one of the differences show up. Before, the Space-themed minifigures used the Classic Space logo on their armor. For the Galaxy Trooper, he uses the Galaxy Squad logo instead. Does this mean that future Space guys are Galaxy Squad as well? We shall see if they show up in future Series. He has a double-sided head with a normal face on one side and screened side on the other. The accessories are the same ADU blasters we’ve seen before.
Results
Overall, the Series 13 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71008) are one of the best series I’ve seen in a while. The minifigures can appeal to a wide range to collectors and many of them can be potential army builders. Some of them are just wacky while others can fit into many MOCed themes as well. Designing new minifigures can be a daunting task but it seems that LEGO has got another hit with Series 13.
If you’re still searching for these in stores, please don’t hesitate to use our feel guide to help you find the ones you want. Even though people are still trying to find all the minifigures, there’s already rumors of Series 14 that will be coming out this October. You can read more about that here.
