Today is the official release of the Wave 9 LEGO Dimensions expansions packs and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment was kind enough to send them in for an early review. The first one I’ll be taking a look at is the Beetlejuice Fun Pack (71349). It consists of 56 pieces and it contains the Beetlejuice minifigure and Saturn’s Sandworm. As with my other LEGO Dimensions pack reviews, I’m only reviewing the sets themselves and not so much on the gameplay.
Minifigure
Beetlejuice is the main ghost antagonist in the movie and a protagonist in the animated TV series. He has on the iconic striped suit outfit that we saw in the both the movie and the TV series but this one is more based on the former. There is some printing for his black tie along with some stripes on the arms. The legs are also printed but only in the front.
The thing that makes Beetlejuice stand out is his head and hair pieces. The head is double-sided and they have some printing of his rotting skin on the sides. There are also some dark purple circles around the eyes as well as a tiny moustache above the mouth. His expressions include a normal one and a smile on the other. His hair is slicked back that was used for the Doc Brown but in an interesting shade of bright green. Beetlejuice has a RFID reader that has the logo in the front with some stripes on the sides.
Build
The main build for the set is the Sandworm from Saturn. It sits on the reader like it’s popping up from the sand. It uses some hinge pieces to give it the curvy look. The main feature of it is the double head that it has. There is the main head that, unfortunately, has to open really wide to allow the smaller head it fit inside. The inside head has a more sinister look with the sharp teeth on the bottom of the mouth. The other builds for the expansion pack are the Spooky Spider and the Haunted Vacuum.
Gameplay
The Beetlejuice Fun Pack (71349) does include the exclusive Adventure World which includes an appearance of Lydia Deetz as well as the Battle Arena. Beetlejuice’s abilities include Mind Control, Telekinesis, and Spike Attack.
Results
The LEGO Dimensions Beetlejuice Fun Pack (71349) is a decent expansion pack that pays homage to the classic comedy film. The Beetlejuice minifigure is pretty much spot on however the Sandworm is a little disproportionate mainly in the head.
Thank you to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
