The new LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets have been out for a few weeks now and the only set that I was interested in picking up was the Olaf (41169) buildable figure. It has 122 pieces and retails for $14.99. The contents of the box include three un-numbered bags, a small sticker sheet and the instruction booklet.
Build
The main part of the build is for Olaf himself. It’s a very simple build that you start at the legs and go up. The lower body/legs use some 6218823: Brick 1X2X1 2/3 W/4 Knobs along with some slope bricks to give him the roundish shape.
The upper body is attached on using a pin so it is able to spin around with ease. The arms are clipped on to the sides but they have no bends at the elbows or wrists and this makes them look extremely stiff. You can flip the arms around but it doesn’t help much but it looks way better and it gives him more expression. Also in the upper body is a blue bowtie that you can switch out with the top button.
Lastly, we have Olaf’s head which I think it the best part out of the build. The face is very recognizable however he has very limited expressions besides his cheerful one.
The set also comes with some accessories for Olaf. First is a pencil which is nothing too spectacular. The other item is his purple journal. Inside of it shows some photos which uses the included stickers. One is of a windy autumn day, another is of a summer day at the beach, and the last one is of Olaf holding a flower.
Results
Overall the LEGO Disney Frozen 2 Olaf (41169) is a mixed bag. I do like the look of the head but the rest of the body is mediocre at best. The arms are terrible especially when they are angled down. He is a bit top heavy as his legs are just the two 2×2 cone bricks.
Olaf does make a cute little figure to display on a desk or a table. He is slightly bigger than a BrickHeadz and has more articulation than his blocky counterpart. At $14.99, it is a bit expensive for what you get but luckily as of this post, Amazon has it on sale for 20% off which is a much more reasonable price.
