Recently, LEGO has released small microscale sets for Star Wars depicting various scenes from the movies and for the 2020 May the 4th event, this year’s set is the Death Star II Battle (40407). You can get it for free from May 1-4 with purchases of $75 or more in LEGO Star Wars products, while supplies last.
Box
The box is the closable kind so it has a bit more premium feel to it. The front just shows the set and the back has a couple of shots of the scene from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Inside the box contains three unnumbered bags and the instructions.
Build
The build is separated into three sections that connect together to build the layout of a small section of the Death Star II. As you can see, there is quite a bit of greebling to give some details throughout. There are a few towers that are still in constructions with the dark red grills along with a turbolaser in the back.
Both the A-wing and the TIE Interceptor look good considering the limited amount of pieces used to build them. They are connected using some clips to give them the action sequence.
Lastly, there’s a printed 2×4 tile for the LEGO Star Wars logo and 2020 for this year’s May the 4th set.
Results
Overall, the Death Star II Battle (40407) is a fun set that tries to recreate an iconic scene from the Star Wars movies. It does make a good desk model and goes good with the Battle of Hoth (40333) and Battle of Endor (40362) from last year.
The two ships are the main focus but the whole trench area is not too shabby especially with the greebling used to not have it with a lot of studs exposed.
Again, you can get this set for free starting on May 1 with purchases of $75 or more in LEGO Star Wars products.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
