A few weeks ago, LEGO revealed the new LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Moments sets and we have them in hand to take a quick look at them. The first one I’ll be reviewing is the Transfiguration Class (76382) which consists of 241 pieces and retails for $29.99.
Minifigures
There are three minifigures in this set, Professor McGonagall, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. McGonagall has on her dark green robe that has printing on both sides of the torso as well as on the dress slope piece. She has a double-sided head with a smile on one side and a displeased look on the other. Her witch’s hat also has some hair molded on to it. Her accessory is a black wand.
Ron has on the gray Gryffindor sweater with the crest on the front which is a new one for 2021. Since this set is based on the Transfiguration Class which was in the first movie, he has the short legs. He has a double-sided head with a smile on one side and a scared expression on the other. His accessories include a brown wand and his pet rat, Scabbers.
Finally, we have Hermione who has the same outfit as Ron. She also has a double-sided head with a smile on one side and a scared look on the other. Her accessory is a tan wand.
Build
The first part of the build is mostly for the furniture that is in the Transfiguration Class such as the blackboard which has a sticker showing a frog transfigured into a cup. There’s also a cupboard filled with magical supplies including a 1×1 glitter printed trans-purple brick used as a potions bottle. In addition, there’s also a chest filled with more supplies. The stickers for the bookcase and blackboard were extremely hard to put on due to the surface being recessed.
The book itself makes use of the book cover pieces, one of which is printed with the Hogwarts crest in pearl-gold and black. It’s too bad that LEGO didn’t design the cover as one of the Transfiguration books, a highly missed opportunity I must say. There are some dark tan parts on the back that are used to connect the books together.
The book opens up to reveal a pillar on the book spine which has portraits of some unknown wizards between some candles. On the inside covers, there are four large stickers for the window. These were a pain to put on straight as well. Lastly, there are a couple of archways that fold out for more playability.
All of the furniture is neatly packed inside the book for easy storage or transportation. There is one downside to this as some of the furniture sit on only a couple of studs so they are prone to falling off.
Results
Overall, the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Moments: Transfiguration Class (76382) is something that’s completely different from the usual system sets that we’ve been getting. I feel these have more collectibility since they can be used as a display piece as well. The main downside are all the stickers that are used throughout, however, I do appreciate the front cover being printed. The price point of $29.99 is a bit on the higher side for what you get. I feel that a $19.99 price or even a $24.99 price would be a better price for it.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
