LEGO Fall 2014 DK Books List

LEGO Architecture The Visual Guide

Coming off our report of the new LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side book from DK Publishing, the DK Fall 2014 Trade Catalog is now available and there are some other notable LEGO DK books that will be coming out this fall. One of these new books is the LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide. This book contains a whopping 232 pages of information about all the LEGO Architecture sets and the real life buildings that inspired them. Read more about the book below. This looks to be a very nice coffee table book to have and I’m very excited for this one. The Visual Guide is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be available on August 18th.

Created in close collaboration with The LEGO Group and Adam Reed Tucker, LEGO® Architecture visionary, LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide takes a deep look at the artists, builders, and inspiration behind the LEGO Architecture series. Beautifully illustrated and annotated, this visual guide allows you to explore the LEGO team’s creative process in building and understand how LEGO artists translated such iconic buildings into these buildable LEGO sets.

Stunning images and in-depth exploration of the real buildings like the Guggenheim™ or the Empire State Building, on which the LEGO Architecture series is based, provide you with a comprehensive look at the creation of these intricate sets. Learn why the LEGO team chose certain pieces and what particular challenges they faced. Read about the inspiration behind the creative processes and what designing and building techniques were used on various sets.

LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side Book Cover

LEGO Star Wars The Dark Side

Hoth Bricks has an image of the cover for the new LEGO Star Wars book from DK Publishing, LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side. This book features all the information you need to know about LEGO sets and minifigures from the Dark Side of the Force. I would assume that there will be more in-depth details on the Dark Side than the new Updated and Expanded Visual Dictionary since this book primarily focuses on it. Like with many other LEGO DK books, there will be an exclusive minifigure included. This character is still mystery but I’m sure it’ll be revealed a few weeks before the book is released. LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side has 96 pages and will be available in September but you can pre-order it now on Amazon.

Journey to the dark side of a galaxy far, far away and meet the LEGO® Star Wars minifigure members of the ruthless Imperial Army in LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side!

Witness Darth Vader battling Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, meet the Sith and all of Darth Vader’s minifigure subjects, and explore the Death Star and all of the Sith starships. Turn the pages to find facts and information about your favorite LEGO Star Wars minifigures and vehicles from the dark side in action-packed situations and discover everything there is to know about the legendary Darth Vader.

With new and exciting photography and an evil exclusive minifigure, LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side will have you questioning on which side your allegiances lie.

LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded

DK has just revealed the exclusive minifigure that will be in the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded book on their Facebook Page. It will be Luke Skywalker in his Tatooine outfit. They named him “retro” Luke Skywalker because it is the same yellow-skinned variant that was found in the Landspeeder (7110) set from 1999. This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme and DK is acknowledging that. The book is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be available in May.

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded

Earlier today, an image of the new LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler (75059) was presumably found in the new LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded. The previous version of the book was released in 2009 and this updated Dictionary will have 48 additional pages to include all the sets that have been released in the past 5 five years such as last year’s Ewok Village (10236), the new Microfighters sets from this year, and the Sandrawler as mentioned above.

The book also has updated their “Beyond the Bricks” chapter where it behind-the-scenes on how the sets are made by the designers. As with many other LEGO books by DK, there will also be an exclusive minifigure included. It hasn’t been revealed of who it will be. DK has noted they will reveal who it will be very soon. It has been rumored that it will be another variant of Luke Skywalker. If you’re a fan of the previous LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary, you’ll surely be a fan of this version as well. Amazon is currently taking pre-orders for the book and it will be available in May.

The LEGO Movie: The Essential Guide Book Review

A few days ago, I’ve received a new Dorling Kingsley LEGO book in the mail courtesy of Penguin Group, The LEGO Movie: The Essential Guide. Before the movie was released, the book gained recognition early by revealing some of the movie sets and minifigures that will be released in a few months. The Essential Guide retails for $12.99 and is written by Hannah Dolan. The book only consists on 64 pages but it is jam-packed with details about the movie.

The book starts off by introducing Bricksburg and some of its citizens. It then goes into detail of some of the main characters that you will see in the movie. Each of these characters gets two pages dedicated to them filled with random facts and tidbids. There are also pages that show some of the locations the characters will be visiting such as the Octan Tower, The Old West, and Cloud Cuckoo Land, just to name a few. The guide also mentions some of the other Master Builder of Bricksburg and their skills like the highly-popular popular Green Lantern and Johnny Thunder. Like I’ve mentioned before, the book also shows details of the three new Movie sets that will be released in the near future, Emmet’s Constructo-Mech (70814), Super Secret Police Dropship (70815), and Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816). At the end of the book, it goes behind the scenes with Matthew Ashton, Vice President of Design for Playthemes and Intellectual Properties at The LEGO Group and it shows how the designers came up with the … Continue
