LEGO SDCC 2022 Behind the Bricks with LEGO Entertainment Panel Recap

LEGO SDCC 2022 Behind the Bricks with LEGO Entertainment

I’m back from LEGO Entertainment panel at San Diego Comic Con 2022 which included various shows like Ninjago, Star Wars, City, Monkey Kid, Friends as well as LEGO Masters. The main thing that took the most time was for LEGO Ninjago and what happens in the second half of Crystalized and comes after that. We can confirm that Crystalized will be returning in October on Netflix. There’s no mentioning of it showing on any other platform. Dareth will be showing up again and Harumi will be featured more and will have a big impact for the Crystalized ending.

The other big new is that LEGO Ninjago will not be ending this year but will be back with a new series in 2023. There was absolutely no details about the show except that it is not a reboot. Writer, Chris “Doc” Wyatt tried to give us some details but had the microphone taken away by Asa Tait. The only information that was given about the 2023 Ninjago series is that it is all new and all different in exciting ways. They said to use your imagination on what that could be. We’ll probably get snippets of it this winter when the 2023 LEGO sets are revealed.

For the other part of the panel, we had some LEGO Star Wars shorts which featured Obi-Wan Kenobi dueling Darth Vader in the desert and Grogu building sandcastles. They were pretty funny.

Reported LEGO Price Increase Set List via Barnes & Noble

Last month, LEGO announced an upcoming price increase on sets that are coming as soon as August and now Barnes & Noble has given us a look at what we can expect to see for the new prices at retailers soon. Yesterday, the big news came out on B&N as they updated their site of over 60+ sets that have already gotten the price bump and it doesn’t look good as some sets will be getting an increase of up to 25%.

Note that the official prices on the LEGO Shop are the final prices and prices listed at other retailers are their own prices. With that said now that we can see what we can expect from other retailers, I highly suggest you take advantage of the upcoming Double VIP Points event from July 12-13 and Amazon Prime Day to get the most out of your money as wallet will be hurting in August. This also doesn’t look like it’s the final list if we’re comparing it to the list that StoneWars put out a while back and there will be more sets that will get the price hike later on.

LEGO Con 2022 Recap

LEGO Con 2022 completed yesterday with a surprisingly positive response from viewers and there was a lot packed in the two hours of the event. There were more LEGO reveals compared to last year and there were also some teasers that you may have missed in between. If you tuned in live for LEGO Con, LEGO is during a survey and taking feedback about the show. You have until June 27 to fill it out.

Teasers

The not so obvious teaser was during the LEGO Harry Potter segment where LEGO Design Master Marcos Bessa talks to Evanna Lynch about some of the HP sets with the huge Hogwarts Express in the background. There’s been rumors of a large scale Hogwarts Express (76405) coming in the fall that has a reported 5,129 pieces and will retail for €499.99.

The more subtle teaser was during the LEGO Star Wars reveals when LEGO Designers Michael Lee Stockwell and Madison O’Neil both came out wearing shirts with the Razor Crest outline. It has also been rumored that there will be a UCS Razor Crest (75331) that will retail for around $529.99. This rumor is a little more iffy than the Hogwarts Express.

Lastly, we got a first look at potentially one of the next LEGO Minecraft minifigures. There is a fan vote that will be starting soon to choose between the Crystal Knight, Classic Knight, or Prismarine Knight. They said it will be on their Twitter page but we don’t see anything yet.
