LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2 (75828) Official Images Revealed

Just a short while ago, LEGO revealed the official images of the new LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (75828) set from the upcoming movie based on the all-female cast. As you can see, the set features all of the main characters including Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann, and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan. The Ecto-1 is based on a new vehicle and is able to fit all four Ghostbusters minifigures. It also seems that all of their proton packs will be able to fit in the back as well.

Also revealed along with the Ecto-1 is the Ecto-2 motorcycle which is ridden by Chris Hemsworth’s character Kevin. One of the images also might contain a spoiler as Kevin seems to be possessed. The last minifigure in the set is a red Daemon which could be something that’s part of the plot.

Reports have that the set is priced at $59.99 and will be available on July 1st.

One LEGO Ghostbusters 2016 Movie Set Based on New Ecto-1

A few days ago, Paul Feig, the writer and director of the new all-female cast of Ghostbusters, tweeted saying there will be some fun stuff from LEGO that will be based off the movie. We already knew that there will be at least one set because of the licensing announcement back in November.

Fast forward to today where Just2Good on Eurobricks has posted that one set (75828) will be the new Ecto-1 which is the 1980’s Cadillac Fleetwood station wagon. Of course, there’s no images yet but it’ll be based on the vehicle seen above. There’s not other information given besides that but hopefully it’ll be large enough to fit all four of the new Ghostbusters crew unlike the Ideas Ecto-1 (21108) which couldn’t hold all four and the proton packs.

There’s also no word on how many sets will be released based on the movie so there’s much speculation there too as well. From the sound of Feig’s tweet, it might suggest a couple of sets but we’ll see. The new Ghostbusters movie will be released in theaters on July 15.

If you’ve been holding off on getting the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) but you want to see some closer details of the set, the designer video is now available online. Yes I did that it was available for viewing over on the LEGO Shop Facebook Page but I was waiting for a version of it to become avaialble on YouTube for easier viewing.

In the video below, you can see designers Marcos Bessa and Paul-Constantin Ţurcanu discuss some small details that you may not know about yet. I’ve already purchased and I should have my review sometime next week when I have some time to build the set.

LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) Timelapse Build

In the beginning of 2016, the new LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) will be available for purchase. I didn’t post this last month but Sergio from Swiss Ghostbusters raised an issue about the similarities between his project on LEGO Ideas and the official set which you can read here. Anyways he received a set from LEGO and has done a timelapse build video as well as a showing off some of the details on it. A short while ago, LEGO revealed the official images of the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) that will be coming in January 2016. We can now also see inside of the Firehouse which shows tons of little details from Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II including the lab where Egon is examining Louis, the dancing toaster, and the photography room where Egon is examining Vigo’s pictures, just to name a few. LEGO 2016 Set Rumors (Various Themes)

It’s that time of the year were more details of 2016 set will be coming out. My trusty source has provided me with some more rumored LEGO sets coming throughout next year. There are no pictures but I do have some details for various themes. Let’s just start alphabetically by theme.

For the Architecture sets, we kinda knew about the city type ones but one that wasn’t touched on was one featuring Buckingham Palace from the United Kingdom. It’s made up of lots of tan pieces and also includes a mini double-decker bus.

There was also mentioning of one of the LEGO Ghostbusters sets from the reboot movie which I posted the announcement earlier today. All I have from Ghostbusters is a set number of 75828 with $79.99 NZD.

LEGO TECHNIC fans also get in on the fun with a Bucket Wheel Excavator (42055) that goes for $499 NZD. There’s also another TECHNIC set named “Ultimate Vehicle” which goes for $699 NZD. I’m not sure if that’s the final name of it or not but that’s what I was told.

Although I said I would go alphabetically with themes, I saved what could be an awesome set for last. Back in 2013, LEGO released the LEGO Creator Sydney Opera House (10234) which was based off of the famous building in Australia. Rumor has it that LEGO will be releasing another world building set with the Big Ben (10253) from London with the pricing at $499 NZD.

LEGO Ghostbusters Reboot Licensed Sets Coming in 2016

Just2Good over on Eurobricks has found out that LEGO will be part of a licensing agreement to produce sets for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot movie featuring the all-female cast. There was no mentioning on what will be coming out but I assume it be various scenes from the movie like they usually do with movie tie-in sets.

This report was from a few days ago but the whole LEGO Ghostbusters theme is not without controversy. Yesterday, one of the creators of the Ghostbusters Firehouse on LEGO Ideas posted a statement regarding the similarities between their project and the official Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827). I shared that post on Facebook and there was mixed reaction.

Anyways, Ghostbusters will be released in July 2016 so we can probably expect sets between May and July.
