Last Day for LEGO Icons Smeagol & Deagol (40761) GWP & Double Insiders Points

There is one day left to get your hands on the LEGO Icons Smeagol & Deagol (40761) gift with purchase set. You can only get it when you purchase the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings The Shire (10354). The GWP has lasted through the whole promotional period which is surprising. If it doesn’t sell out, we could see it return at a future date. LEGO Insiders still also have one day left for double points on Rivendell (10316) and Barad-Dur (10333).

The LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings The Shire (10354) is now available to the general public so that means everybody now has access to the Smeagol & Deagol (40761) gift with purchase set. For a set this popular, I’m surprised that the GWP lasted through the the LEGO Insiders timed event and will most likely sell out before April 8 now that everyone can get it. LEGO Insiders still also have double points on Rivendell (10316) and Barad-Dur (10333).

LEGO The Lord of the Rings Poster with The Shire (10354) Purchases

Today was the release of the new LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: The Shire (10354) both online and at LEGO Brand Stores and it looks like there was an unannounced poster giveaway as well.

Over on Reddit and other sources online, there’s a cool thick stock poster that you could’ve gotten with a purchase of the set. The poster features all three of the LEGO Icons sets that have released including Rivendell and Barad-Dur.

I wonder if LEGO will be shipping it with the online purchases or was it just only for store giveaways. We’ll see once orders start to arrive in the mail in a few weeks.

The Future of LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings

Yesterday’s announcement of the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: The Shire (10354) may have given a hint to the future of the LOTR theme. Towards the end of the press release, there was a curious statement which read:

A true collector’s item that completes the trilogy of sets, following previous Barad-dûr™ and Rivendell™ launches, the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set is a testament to the enduring power of friendship, adventure, and the magic of Middle-earth™.

This latest set seems to suggest that this will be it for The Lord of the Rings theme for the Icons line following Rivendell (10316) and Barad-dur (10333). I can’t imagine LEGO being done after just three sets as there’s still many more locations that they could do such as Khazad-dum/Mines of Moria, Gondor/Minas Tirith, or Helm’s Deep. They also also shift to large scale character builds like the Balrog, an Oliphaunt, a Fell Beast, or even Smaug. Either way, we’ll just have to see what LEGO has planned for the future of The Lord of the Rings.
