LEGO Shop@Home Retiring Soon List Updated

LEGO has updated their list of “Retiring Soon” sets on Shop@Homeicon. What’s interesting is the Legend of Chima Speedorz sets are the first in the theme to go away because they just came out late 2012/early 2013. We already know that there will be another wave of Chima sets this summer but it seems a little fast to retire these so early. If you’ve been holding off getting them, I’d suggest picking them up as soon as possible.

Update from LEGO:

Just wanted to clarify that there is no mistake on the Friends and Chima items. The Friends Pets and Chima Speedorz are set to refresh on much shorter timelines than most sets.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 9 (71000) Review

The Series 9 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71000) were officially released in January 2013. Like all the previous series, there are 16 minifigures in the set. They come in grey packaging and retails for $2.99 each. When the minfigures were shown in teaser images by LEGO last year, I was really excited for the Series 9 minifigures to be released.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 9 News Update

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 9

According to Brick Fanatics, there will be some changes coming to the Series 9 LEGO Collectible Minifigures. A month ago, WhiteFang on Eurobricks did a review on the minifigures and did a breakdown of what he got in the box. He noted that he only had two full sets in the box instead of the usual three as in previous series, which has caused some ruckus in the LEGO community. But that is not the end of the changes as Kim Thomsen on the Ambassador site states that:

The reason for the new split is that we are introducing a smaller box with only 30 bags – and 3 is such a troublesome amount to split in half.

So now (soon) you can buy a box and get a whole set plus 14 instead of buying a box of 60.

For me as a casual collector, I don’t see an issue with this. I’m very comfortable in buying a smaller and cheaper box and know that I’m guaranteed of getting one full set plus some extras. I can also see the other side of the coin where people would like more minifigures to build an army or to resell them later. What on your thoughts on this major change to this series of Collectible Minifigures and possible future series?

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 9 Preview (Continued)

LEGO has revealed the front images of the Series 9 Collectible Minifigures on their Facebook page. The minifigure bios are also on their minisite. Whitefang over on Eurobricks has already done an extensive reviews on the Series 9 minifigures. He states that now there might be only two complete sets in an unopened box. Does this mean that some minifigures are more rarer than other? That could happen but that’s the luck of the draw. Which Series 9 minifigure are you looking forward to getting?

Alien Avenger

Alien Avenger

“Smash, mash, and destroy!”

The Alien Avenger is part of a team of rough, tough space warriors assembled from all across the galaxy. With armor and weapons scavenged from the battlefields of a hundred war-torn worlds, he may lack military discipline, but he makes up for it with brute strength and eagerness to charge into battle no matter the odds.

As one of 5,000 identical siblings, the Alien Avenger is used to not standing out in a crowd. But it doesn’t bother him that some may see him as just another nameless, faceless trooper – give him a planetoid beneath his feet and a disintegrator blaster in his hand, and he’ll take on anything and everything that comes his way!”

Battle Mech

Battle Mech

“To the rescue – go!”

Whenever danger threatens the planet, the mighty Battle Mech goes into action! Launching from its secret base, it blasts through the sky on powerful retro-rockets, using an arsenal of built-in weaponry and gadgets to battle enormous space monsters, out-of-control asteroids, and
