LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) Set Coming in 2021

Brickset has updated their database for new LEGO sets and there is one interesting one called the Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450). It appears to be some sort of gift with purchase item coming some time in 2021. Little is known about this set but it will the second tribute type set that LEGO will release. The first one was the Charles Dickens Tribute (40410) late last year. It will most likely be a set depicting her being the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the Atlantic. If you remember, there was a project on LEGO Ideas called I am Amelia Earhart that hit 10,000 supporters in 2018 but I doubt it has any relation to it.

LEGO 2020 Employee Gift – Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020) Revealed

LEGO Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020)

Each year LEGO gives their employees a limited edition set as a Christmas gift and for 2020, LEGO celebrates the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Education theme with this set. As a LEGO Ambassador, we were also given this gift as a present as well. There’s no official set name but the included pamphlet titles it Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020) so that’s what we’re calling it.

The back of the box talks about the LEGO gearwheel which also celebrates its 50th year since it was introduced and it is mainly featured in this set.

LEGO Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020)-2

It’s been 40 years since LEGO Education was established and 50 years since the introduction of the first universal LEGO gearwheel. We mark this double anniversary with this special LEGO Education-inspired model, full of festive magic. Enjoy.

The 919 piece model features a couple of elves working in their workshop getting some presents ready. When you turn the wheel on the right side, pretty much everything goes into motion including the Christmas tree spinning, the elves moving, and the conveyor belt rotates to reveal presents on the line.

As a collector, I usually keep these sets sealed but there are plenty of reviews of it online that you can check out. The set has been sold online on the secondary market for a while now but we held off on sharing it so that LEGO employees can be surprised for their gift. Thank you to the LEGO Engagement Team for their work and generosity this year!

Could LEGO Collectible Minifigures May 2021 Wave be Based on Space Jam 2?

If you saw yesterday, the new January-May 2021 LEGO Catalog was released and one of the pages showed the Series 21 LEGO Collectible Minifigures. On the bottom right corner it also shows a new series will be out in May.

Way back in August, we reported that there was a rumor that there could be a LEGO Looney Tunes Collectible Minifigures coming out next year. I’m not sure where but I’ve recently heard somewhere that this wave could be based on Space Jam: A New Legacy which is the new movie that features LeBron James and other newer NBA and WNBA stars. It also includes some Looney Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Pepe Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, Lola Bunny, Porky Pig, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, and Yosemite Sam. If LEGO continues the 12 minifigures per wave, that’s already 10 of them. We can probably throw in Elmer Fudd and the Tasmanian Devil as the last two since they were in the first Space Jam.

Of course, this is purely a rumor and we really don’t know what LEGO has in store for this wave coming out in May. Note that Space Jam 2 comes out in July and marketing for the movie will have probably started by then.

Chronicle Books has recently released some of their new stationery products and they have sent over a couple for a quick review. The first is the LEGO Minifigure Notes which retails for $15.95 for a pack of 20. The cards themselves are made with higher quality paper and they come with a storage box. Even the envelopes themselves have a minifigure design on the inside.

The LEGO Minifigure Notes and LEGO Minifigure Journal are fun items that both kids and adults can use in their everyday lives. The prices for them are reasonable and they can come up cheaper than what you normally can find in stores. They are now available online and you can probably also find them at stationery stores as well.

Thank you to Chronicle Books for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
