LEGO 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor by Marcos Bessa

(Ghostbusters) 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor

I don’t usually feature many MOCs on here but this one is worth noting. While developing the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108), LEGO designer Marcos Bessa also created the original 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor in which the Ecto-1 is based on by making a few minor changes. If you have the Ecto-1 set, you can easily modify yours to make it a normal looking car by swapping out the colors to your specifications and removing the greebles on top of the car. Check out the other angles of the car below or on Marcos’ album here.

LEGO Marshmallow Peeps

Lego Bunny Peeps

Today is Easter Sunday and fans in the LEGO community have gotten into the Easter spirit including Sean and Steph Mayo (Siercon and Coral). They have created a LEGO version of the Marshmallow Peeps as their Iron Builder entry using the yellow sloped curve piece.

Legohaulic has also created a box of Peeps using the same yellow 1×2 curved slope and one of the chicks even has its head bitten off. These two entries are very cool especially considering today is Easter and the entries are very well-timed.

Awesome LEGO Ship MOC with Realistic Sail Rigging

Pinnacle

The past few days, we’ve been doing a few posts featuring LEGO ships from the Thousand Sunny from One Piece to the contest that ReBrick is hold to name a new LEGO Pirate ship that will be released early next year. Mr. Townsend over on Eurobricks has posted his creation, the 14 gun brig called the Pinnacle. It has taken him over one and half years to build and consists of about 3200 bricks. What’s cool about it is the custom sails that he has created using painting canvas dyed with tea. The amount of detail the yarn used to rig the sails is amazing. Check out more images of the Pinnacle below.

LEGO WildStar Rocket House at PAX East 2014

PAX East 2014 is happening right now in Boston and if you’re lucky enough to attend, make sure to visit the WildStar booths there. Our good friend Mariann Asanuma from Model Building Secrets is there and she is showing off a build that she has created for Carbine Studios. Mariann was commissioned to create a 50,000 piece LEGO Rocket House designed straight from the game and it is currently displayed in the main lobby. After the show, it will be dontated to Child’s Play along with $10,000. There is also a smaller version of the Rocket House that will be given away to someone who pre-orders WildStar while at the convention. Check out the images of Mariann’s builds below. I’ll add more when they are available.

LEGO One Piece Thousand Sunny MOC

If you’re into anime shows, then you probably recognize the featured picture above. A builder by the username xinleiming has created a LEGO MOC of the Thousand Sunny from the One Piece series which is one of my favorite mangas/anime. This is the current ship of the Straw Hat Pirates who are led by the protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy. As you can see, the build implements many of the details from the original ship including the lion figurehead at the bow. The amount of details this MOC has is amazing and I wouldn’t mind having one for myself. Check out more images of the Thousand Sunny here.

The LEGO Movie Themed Community Window at Fashion Valley LEGO Store

Fashion Valley LEGO Store Community Window

The Community Window at my local LEGO Store in San Diego (Fashion Valley) has been changed out and the new model is The LEGO Movie themed. It was created by Tommy who is a fellow member of SandLUG. The build is actually an interactive model where he has placed 12 Emmet minifigures throughout the whole model. The store even has a cool little contest where they are giving away the remaining Benny posters they have to children who can find all 12 Emmets. If you’re in the area, stop by the store and check out Tommy’s model and see if you can find all 12 “hidden” Emmets. Technically, I found 14 mentions of him but who’s counting 😉

LEGO Lost World Zoo Exhibit by Bright Bricks

The folks over at Bright Bricks has been hard at work creating some animals for LEGO Lost World Zoo exhibit at the Milestones Living History Museum in Hampshire, UK. They have filled the exhibit with creations of animals from the past including dodo birds, dragonflies, a woolly mammoth, and the sabre-toothed tiger seen above. This masterpiece consists of around 120,000 LEGO bricks and is about 1.4m high and 2.4m long. Below is a timelapse video of the tiger being built by UK’s only LEGO Certified Professional. The exhibit runs until April 27th so if you’re in the area, drop by to check out the exhibit and all the creations Bright Bricks has done.
