LEGO Monkie Kid Continuing Through 2023

A few days ago, LEGO Vice President of Design Matthew Ashton did a Q&A on Instagram and he listed off some themes he has been put in charge of for 2023 and some of them may surprise you. As VP of Design, he has his hands full for quite a few product lines for 2023 which include City, Friends, Creator, Classic, Technic, Speed Champions, Monkie Kid, Ninjago, Collectible Minifigures, and DOTS.

What’s most interesting is that Monkie Kid will continue releasing products for the next few years. Although Monkie Kid is a very unique theme that caters mostly to the Asian market, I’m not really sure if it’s that popular in the west. They’ve recently announced that the show will finally be available in the US through Amazon Kids+ but it seems quite late since a lot of people have been waiting over a year to watch it and the hype for the theme has substantially cooled down. Original IPs tend to do well with LEGO and they usually run for about two years but if Monkie Kid extends to 2023, that’ll be four years which makes it one of the longer running ones and that isn’t a bad thing.

LEGO Monkie Kid Airing on Amazon Kids+ on September 9

LEGO has announced LEGO Monkie Kid will be airing on Amazon Kids+ starting on September 9. Season 1 of the show will be available via Amazon in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and Japan and Season 2 will be available on October 28. It was also stated in the press release that a new line of LEGO Monkie Kid sets will be available later this fall.

Obviously, this is sort of a misstep from LEGO as the show that many have been waiting to watch will now be behind a paywall. For a short while, the episodes were up on YouTube in Cantonese, albiet illegally, but at least I was able to watch the first season without issues.

LEGO Shop July 2021 Shopping Guide

July is coming up and this is your reminder that there will be some new products and promotions that will kick off tonight on the LEGO Shop. The main promotion is for the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) with purchases of $85 or more, while supplies last. The promo runtime was supposed to be from July 1-25 but the Store Calendar seems to have changed it to July 1-14 so plan accordingly and there might not be that much stock since they’ve shortened the time.

Speaking of adidas, the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (10282) buildable shoe will be available for $79.99. You can read my review here.

The new LEGO Ideas Typewriter (21327) will be available to the general public for $199.99 but as of right now, it is out of stock. We’ll see if LEGO puts it up again for sale. You can read my review here.

The LEGO Monkie Kid theme will have three new sets added to the lineup.

Sandy’s Power Loader Mech (80025) – $54.99
Pigsy’s Noodle Tank (80026) – $59.99
The Bone Demon (80028) – $119.99

Lastly, we have the new LEGO Disney The Ice Castle (43197) which also retails for $199.99. It is a larger scale castle that is comparable to the original Disney Castle (71040) but it’s not labeled as an exclusive.

LEGO Monkie Kid Summer 2021 Sets Found in Germany

The folks at Promobricks has reported there are some new LEGO Monkie Kid sets that have been able to be purchased at the Dusseldorf LEGO Brand Store. Sandy’s Power Loader Mech (80025) faces off again Syntax’s little spider mech and Pigsy’s Noodle Tank (80026) is as what you expect the name to be. It’s a traditional noodle bowl that has been transformed into a tank. There’s also a huge villain set numbered 80028 that was found in the instructions and it uses a lot of glow in the dark pieces.
