A LEGO Brickumentary Official Trailer

The official trailer for A LEGO Brickumentary has now become available watch online. If you haven’t heard, the movie is a documentary about LEGO and it explores the history and the worldwide cultural impact the bricks have on people who build with it. It is narrated by Jason Bateman and there are plenty of interviews and stories with AFOLs about what LEGO means to them.

A LEGO Brickumentary was first shown at the Tribeca Film Festival last year and was picked up by RADiUS-TWC shortly after. The release date for theaters will be July 31, 2015. You may probably recognize many of the builders in the movie including Alice Finch, Nathan Sawaya, and Stephen Pakbaz just to name a few. Check out the trailer below.

Thanks to Adeel for the heads up.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batzarro Minifigure Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batzarro

Today I received my pre-order copy of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League and as reported many times before, the Blu-Ray/DVD also includes an exclusive Batzarro minifigure. To give a little backstory on this little known character, Batzarro first appeared in June 2005 in Superman/Batman #20. He first met up with Bizarro and introduced himself as “the world’s worst detective.” However in the new animated movie, he was created by Batman being shot by the LexCorp duplicator ray gun.

On to the LEGO Batzarro minifigure review, he has a similar look as Batman but with some slight differences. The most notable difference is that the outfit is mostly a lavender/sand purple color. Everything on the outfit is upside-down including the Batman symbol and the utility belt. The back of the torso also has some printing with the upside-down belt. The head is double-sided and is pale white in color. There are dark circles around the eyes and he has a snarl on one side and an angry growl on the other. The final detail is the tattered cape that he has on. Unfortunately, Batzarro does not include any accessories.

Overall, Batzarro is a great minifigure if you’re a Batman collector as it’s another variant that you can add to your collection. It most likely will not be appearing in any forseeable DC Comics Super Heroes sets as he is a pretty obscure character. This goes along with the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh minifigure from SDCC last year however this one is way … Continue

The LEGO Movie Snubbed at the Oscars

So I wake up this morning and see that the Oscar nominations have been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Despite being one of the top four grossing movies in 2014 with $257 million domestically and $468 million worldwide, The LEGO Movie has been totally snubbed in the Best Animated Feature Oscars category which includes The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Big Hero 6, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of Princess Kaguya. The LEGO Movie was liked by many including critics and has a 96% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Honestly, I haven’t even heard of the last two movies on the list and how many of you actually watched all five in theaters. I’m going to say a majority of the readers here never even watched the the last two movie considering that Song of the Sea only made $100,360 and The Tale of Princess Kaguya made $597,978 domestically. One of the movies was also released in December so how can that even be considered. Sure all the nominees are worthy but come on now. I also checked out the rules of eligibility and I’m pretty sure The LEGO Movie fits the definition:

An animated feature film is defined as a motion picture with a running time of more than 40 minutes, in which movement and characters’ performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique. Motion capture by itself is not an animation technique. In addition, a significant number of the major characters must be animated, and
