LEGO Ninjago Modular Rumored for 2022

The LEGO Ninjago theme has been releasing some modular type buildings in recent years with Ninjago City (70620) and Ninjago City Docks (70657) and with the most recent one with Ninjago City Gardens (71741). There are now rumors of a new Ninjago modular building coming next year but in a slightly smaller scale. This mystery set is said to have about 1,300 pieces and retails for around $120. Of course there are no details about it at this time and everything is considered a rumor until LEGO announces it.

LEGO BrickHeadz Ninjago 10 (40490) Now Available on LEGO Shop

If you didn’t do the promotion for the LEGO BrickHeadz Ninjago 10 (40490) last month, you can now purchase the three pack set outright for $29.99. The set features Golden Lloyd, Nya Samurai X, and Firstbourne Dragon as BrickHeaz to celebrate the 10th anniversary of LEGO Ninjago.

LEGO Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (40490) to be Sold in July

The LEGO Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (40490) promotion for June came with some controversy as it is a purchase-with-purchase promotion but there are some more details about it coming from the LEGO Ambassador Network. As of now you can get it for $10 with purchases of $85 in Ninjago products, in-store only but if you want to do that, there’s another chance to get it starting in July. Whatever remaining stock there is left over from June in stores will be sold at full price starting on July 1 worldwide at LEGO Brand Retail, Certified Stores, Merlin and on the LEGO Shop.

This is actually a decent follow up for those who don’t want to buy any Ninjago in June since there’s nothing new and you’ll end up with duplicates. I’m going to guess there will be plenty of stock in July for people who want to buy it for $29.99. Again, it seems that LEGO is listening to feedback and all the negative reactions when the July 2021 Store Calendar was posted and have adjusted accordingly.

I have been told from the Shop Team that the 40490 set will only be available as a promo during the month of June. Then remaining stock will be opened up for purchase at full price after July 1st. Once available for purchase it is planned to be available at LBR, LCS, Merlin, LEGO.com.

LEGO Announces LEGO Ninjago Ninja Vlogs

LEGO has announced they have launched their first digital vlog series for LEGO Ninjago called Ninja Vlogs. The vlogs feature Jay and Nya who are played by actors using motion capture and real-time rendering and it combines CGI along with a live action performance. The first episode airs today over at https://www.lego.com/en-us/kids with subsequent episodes following every second Friday.

Ninja Vlogs Go! The LEGO Group Launches First Digital Vlog Series

LEGO® Ninjago Characters Jay and Nya to be played by actors using motion capture and real-time rendering

May 28th, 2021: Today, the LEGO Group steps into a new realm of adventure and discovery as it launches the first episode of Ninja Vlogs, a brand-new series of motion capture vlogs aimed at viewers ages 6-12 years. Hosted by Jay and Nya, two familiar faces from LEGO® Ninjago, the interactive vlogs offer a new way for young fans to connect with the beloved characters and even get involved in the story themselves!

For the first time ever, the LEGO Group is introducing content produced using motion capture and real-time rendering. Motion capture is a 3D production approach in which the performance of an actor is recorded using a suit with motion trackers and mapped onto a 3D character, thereby allowing the character to mirror the actor’s movements. Meanwhile, real-time rendering calculates 3D images at high speed so that scenes which consist of a multitude of images appear to be occurring in real time.

Merging the two techniques in relation to LEGO characters, models and settings combines the best

LEGO Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (40490) Purchase-with-Purchase Concept – Good or Bad?

If you didn’t see the June 2021 LEGO Store Calendar yet, LEGO will be doing a new kind of promotion for the new LEGO Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (40490). Instead of the usual gift-with-purchase, they will be trying out a new purchase-with-purchase promotion for it and in this case, the set will be $10 with a purchase of $85 in Ninjago products, in-store only.

I can already see some issues with it. The main thing being the in-store only one. There are still a lot of people who don’t have a LEGO Brand Store or Discovery Center near them and will probably have to resort to the secondary market. There are also those who don’t want to go to a store because of the hassle. Another problem I see with the promotion is mostly for hardcore Ninjago fans who have collected every set. To get it, they’ll have to shell out $85 to purchase a set that they already have just to get the promo. The other side of the coin is that you can probably just keep it sealed for a few years and resell it after.

I have seen a mixed bag for the actual purchase-with-purchase concept. Some people like it because it gives fans who want the extra to get it and it ensures that the promo item doesn’t run out as fast as some previous ones. There are also comments that say it’s a money grab which it kind of is. The set is stated to be $29.99 in the T&Cs, so … Continue
