LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Toys R Us Bat-Signal Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Toys R Us Bat-Signal

Earlier today was the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Bat-Signal event at Toys R Us stores throughout the US. Kids had the chance to build it there and take it home along the comic book that was given out at San Diego Comic Con 2014.

The Bat-Signal build itself is very simple. The signal itself sits on a turntable piece and swivels up and down using the mechanical droid legs with TECHNIC pin. The most unique element in the build is probably the Batman logo radar dish which only appears in one set, The Batcave (6860) from 2012.

Overall, it was a pretty crowded and the store employees didn’t set up until 10 minutes before the the event started. It also looked like there was very limited quantites available so if you didn’t get there early to get in line, you were probably out of luck.

If you want to build your own, below are the instructions for the Bat-Signal. You can also download the instructions in PDF format here courtesy of fellow SandLUG member Charlie.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman: Be-Leaguered on Cartoon Network

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman-Be-Leaguered

On October 27th at 6/5c, Cartoon Network will be airing an all-new special event called LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Batman: Be-Leaguered. The show features pre-New 52 versions of the super heroes as well as some new minifigures that will be in the 2015 LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets such as Captain Cold in Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas (76026) and Cyborg in Darkseid Invasion (76028).

Check out the synopsis as well as the UK promo and a short blooper clip below of the episode below.

Lego DC Comics: “Batman Be-Leaguered” Monday, October 27 at 6:00 p.m. (ET, PT) on Cartoon Network Batman prides himself on being a loner, a totally self-sufficient one-man-band. Just ask anyone; Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, Alfred…anyone. So, he is understandably irritated when his nightly cleanup of Gotham City villains is interrupted by Superman, who pesters Batman to join his new superhero team, The Justice League. After Batman makes it quite clear to the Man of Steel that his invitation has been declined, Superman flies off disappointed…whereupon he is overcome with a strange energy and vanishes!

Warner Bros. Announce Upcoming LEGO Movie Release Dates

In a shareholder meeting yesterday, Warner Bros. presented details of upcoming LEGO movies and gave tentative release dates for the next three films. With the huge success of The LEGO Movie earlier this year, Warner Bros. is hoping these films will have the same success as well.

As we reported a few months ago, the LEGO Ninjago movie is already scheduled for September 23, 2016. Charlie Bean will be directing the film while Dan and Kevin Hageman will be writing the script.

The recently announced LEGO Batman spinoff, voiced by Will Arnett, will take place on February 10, 2017 which takes the spot that was previously for The LEGO Movie 2. Chris McKay will be directing and Seth Grahame-Smith will be writing the story. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller will be producing.

There were also two more LEGO films slated for Memorial Day weekend in 2018 and 2019. The LEGO Movie 2 will most likely take the May 25, 2018 release date which was also reported back in August. At the same time, there was an untitled LEGO Movie scheduled for May 24, 2019 which could be anything at this point, whether it be LEGO Ninjago or LEGO Batman sequels or even The LEGO Movie 3.

There’s no doubt that there will be official sets that will be released in conjunction with all these movies. Stay tuned as we will be reporting more details about the upcoming LEGO movies as they become available.

LEGO Super Heroes Bat-Signal Building Event at Toys R Us This Saturday

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Toys R Us Bat-Signal

As were one of the first sites to report this last month, Toys R Us stores will be having another building event this weekend and it is for a LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Bat Signal. This is a reminder that if you’re planning to attend this Saturday, October 18 from 12-2pm, get there early because I believe this building event will be more popular than last week’s build of the LEGO Star Wars Rebels Micro Ghost.

One of the cool things about the build is the Batman logo radar dish. It is pretty rare since it’s only in one set, The Batcave (6860).

“Event intended for children ages 5-up. Parental supervision required at all times. All giveaways and event materials available while supplies last and distributed to participating children only. Limit 1 per child. Quantities limited; no rain checks. All participating Toys “R” Us US locations.”

Will There Be LEGO Sets Based on the Civil War Storyline?

Variety is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to sign on for Captain America 3 which paves the way for a new phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Civil War storyline.

If you’re familiar with the Cival War storyline, it pits Tony Stark and Steve Rogers against each other when they feud over the Superhero Registration Act. The Act forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their true identities to the government. Of course, many characters are for it like Stark and others aren’t like Rogers. The Superhero Registration Act includes many Marvel characters in the storyline including Spider-Man. Currently the Spider-Man franchise is owned by Sony but there are rumors they may be sharing the franchise with Marvel so both companies can use the character.

Will this news translate into official LEGO sets? My guess is probably since this is one of the most popular storylines in Marvel’s history but it’s still too early to tell. Captain America 3 won’t happen for a few more years but it’s never too early to speculate. What minifigures do you want to see in sets if LEGO does produce sets based on the Civil War? For reference, here’s a list of characters who are involved in the storyline.
