The Series 2 LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71028) officially releases in a few days but if you’re planning to purchase a full box, there’s a warning that you should know about. Usually we can expect three complete sets per box for a particular series, but things have changed for this wave. There are multiple reviews online now and we can pretty much confirm that the box distribution is completely random.

Some fan media sites like Brickset and Promobricks has opened full boxes and what they got were very different from each other. For example, Brickset got seven Griphooks while Promobricks got zero Ron Weasley minifigures and eight Hermione. Over on YouTube, an example is that someone got five Neville minifigures.

This is the first time since I’ve gotten back in the hobby that I can not report on a set distribution rate for the minifigures because I simply can’t. I don’t know why LEGO changed it but this change could affect future minifigures series as well. If you’re looking to get them, I suggest purchasing a complete set from an independent shop or if you can safely do it, feel for them yourselves individually.

LEGO has started teasing the reveal of the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978) and in regional emails, there was also a sneak peek of one of the exclusive minifigures in the set. In the UK emails, it looks like Daily Prophet Photographer was shown off. The US version of the email does not show it at all. This is one of the four new exclusive minifigures that will be found in Diagon Alley.

The official announcement of Diagon Alley (75978) will be on Monday, August 31 and I’m hearing the set will be released on September 1.

LEGO has sent out emails for a countdown to reveal the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978) set. The set will be announced next Monday at 3am PST. There are some other stuff on the countdown page including a brick-built QR code which takes you to https://ttbda.com/ but redirects you back to the same countdown page. There’s also a short video of James and Oliver Phelps, aka George and Fred Weasley, builing the QR code in Gryffindor and Slythern colors.

They won’t be officially available on LEGO Shop@Home until September 1 but you can already find them on the shevles at various Target locations.

Although they haven’t been officially announced yet, the Series 2 LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (71028) have been spotted at Target. They are not street dated and if you’re looking for them, your store may have them out a little early along with a lot of the other September 1 LEGO set releases. Last week, we reported the rumored lineup for the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028) and it looks like we can confirm the characters in the set. According to Promobricks, boxes of them have been released in stores at a supermarket chain called Carrefour. There are 16 minifigures to collect and they include:
