LEGO SDCC 2022 Behind the Bricks with LEGO Entertainment Panel Recap

LEGO SDCC 2022 Behind the Bricks with LEGO Entertainment

I’m back from LEGO Entertainment panel at San Diego Comic Con 2022 which included various shows like Ninjago, Star Wars, City, Monkey Kid, Friends as well as LEGO Masters. The main thing that took the most time was for LEGO Ninjago and what happens in the second half of Crystalized and comes after that. We can confirm that Crystalized will be returning in October on Netflix. There’s no mentioning of it showing on any other platform. Dareth will be showing up again and Harumi will be featured more and will have a big impact for the Crystalized ending.

The other big new is that LEGO Ninjago will not be ending this year but will be back with a new series in 2023. There was absolutely no details about the show except that it is not a reboot. Writer, Chris “Doc” Wyatt tried to give us some details but had the microphone taken away by Asa Tait. The only information that was given about the 2023 Ninjago series is that it is all new and all different in exciting ways. They said to use your imagination on what that could be. We’ll probably get snippets of it this winter when the 2023 LEGO sets are revealed.

For the other part of the panel, we had some LEGO Star Wars shorts which featured Obi-Wan Kenobi dueling Darth Vader in the desert and Grogu building sandcastles. They were pretty funny.

LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2022 Day 1 Recap

LEGO SDCC 2022

Day 1 of San Diego Comic Con 2022 is in the books and here’s what went on for LEGO on the first day and it wasn’t much. The first thing that everybody has been asking for were the LEGO exclusives. I can confirm along with others that there will be no exclusives this year which was said from a few LEGO people at the booth and it looks like LEGO will be done with SDCC exclusives forever, from what I’ve been told by a source. I’ll just leave it at that and if some info comes out, I’ll report it but for now, that’s all that I will say.

The booth is still in the same spot as usual but there’s much more open area. Instead of play bricks, fans can play the Brick Catcher touch screen game to win a small retail set. From what I saw, the prizes are the small Classic sets like the Creative White Bricks (11012). I could’ve went in to try but waiting 15-20 minutes for a $5 set wasn’t worth my time.

The other side of the booth was the retail shop. You couldn’t really go in to buy but you got a menu sheet to choose what you wanted and they would bring it out from the back. There were some LEGO sets that were on display but nothing new that we haven’t seen before. I’m surpised there weren’t more reveals.

Update: I’ve been told that there were two GWPs, Electro (5002125) polybag with $70 purchase and … Continue

LEGO The Mighty Bowser Statue Revealed for San Diego Comic Con 2022

Although the LEGO exclusives haven’t been revealed yet, they have shown off the brick-built The Mighty Bowser that fans can take a picture with at San Diego Comic Con 2022. Standing at 14 feet, Bowser consists of 663,900 pieces and took the team around 3,290 to design and put together. It will be displayed at the Nintendo Booth #235.

LEGO Not Part of San Diego Comic Con 2022 Exclusives Portal

It looks like the Exclusives Portal for San Diego Comic Con is finalized which means that LEGO will not be part of it. Comic Con International has been emailing people telling them that no more items are expected to be added to the list. If you don’t know what this is, you allocate points given to you to enter lotteries to have a chance to get a certain company’s exclusive items. However, it doesn’t mean that LEGO won’t have exclusives as they can still do their own thing either at their booth (#2829) or in the Sails Pavilion. It’s been highly unusual that no exclusives for LEGO has been announced since SDCC is literally one week away. We shall see in the upcoming days if they announce anything at all.

No LEGO Listed in San Diego Comic Con 2022 Exclusives Portal

The San Diego Comic Con 2022 exclusives portal has gone live but unfortunately, it doesn’t show any LEGO exclusives yet. In recent years, SDCC has put up a lottery system where you allocate points to whatever exclusives you are interested in and LEGO has usually been on the list but as of this writing, there are none listed for any days. I can’t see any of the exclusives since I am registered as “Press” and it is only open to General Attendees and Professionals but I’ve been told that there aren’t any LEGO list at this time.

I think SDCC is still working on the functionality of the portal as other people are having issues with it. I wouldn’t look too much into it right now as companies are still revealing their products for the show and the portal will still be open until July 15 at 12pm PT.
