The LEGO Ninjago Movie Earns $21.2 Million on Opening Weekend

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

The box office numbers are in for this past weekend and The LEGO Ninjago Movie opens at $21.2 million domestically which comes in third after Kingsman: The Golden Circle and It. The industry forecasted TLNM to make between $27-35 million but it stumbled out the gates and is currently at 53% on Rotten Tomatoes. The opening numbers are somewhat disappointing compared to the previous LEGO movies with The LEGO Movie opening at $69 million and The LEGO Batman Movie which opened at $53 million.

Warner Bros. had an pretty extensive marketing campaign for The LEGO Ninjago Movie which includes LEGO sets to accompany it but the movie did have more of a niche audience than the previous movies as it catered more to fans of the theme and not more of a wider audience like the other LEGO movies. As I stated in my spoiler-free review, I also felt that it wasn’t as good as TLM and TLBM but it was still decent. If you still haven’t seen it yet, I would still recommend it as it was still enjoyable but lower your expectations just a tad bit.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609) Polybag Review

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609)

Today is the premiere of The LEGO Ninjago Movie in theaters and LEGO has started a new promotion in stores and on Shop@Home for the Lloyd (30609) minifigure polybag. This version of Lloyd is exclusive to this polybag and is seen partly in the movie and is a little bit different from the Lloyd you get in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigures.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609)

The torso has printing of his green hoodie slightly zipped up over his ninja suit. This is a little different than the CMF one where he has a white shirt underneath instead. The legs are the same ones as in the CMF where he has on black pants with a brown belt and some printing of the bottom part of the hoodie. He has a single sided head with an angry expression. The hoodie/hair mold is also the same one as before but his hair is now light gray. I also want to note that the hair has some black misprinting on it. I’m not sure if this is a widespread issue or not. His accessory is his sword with a pearl-gold tassel. He does not come with the black stand as I use it for all my minifigure reviews.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609)

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609) polybag is now free with purchases of $50 more at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. It’s a neat little exclusive but the gray hair seems a little off and makes Lloyd look older than he should. Other than that, it’s another exclusive to get for The … Continue

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609) Promotion Now Live

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609)

The promotion for The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd (30609) minifigure polybag is now live on Shop@Home. You can get the polybag for free with a purchase of $50 or more, while supplies last. This hooded version of Lloyd is slightly different from the one you get in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigures line. For the next three hours as of this post, you can also get the Mini Green Ninja Mech Dragon (30428) as well. I’ve tested it on Shop@Home and both polybags are in the cart.

Feel free to use the links above to make your purchase as it does help support The Brick Fan.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

There is a new image of some of the next wave of The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets from a German site promoting a contest they’re running. The two sets shown are the Piranha Attack (70629) and the Quake Mech (70632). The Piranha Attack set is a neat army building set which includes the Piranha Mech and a a rickshaw. The other set is the Quake Mech which looks neat. I’m interested in seeing how it stands by itself.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Spoiler-Free Review

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

A few days ago, I attended an early press screening for The LEGO Ninjago Movie and here’s a non-spoiler review of the film. After the box office hits for The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, I didn’t know if it could live up to the expectations the previous films did.

The story itself focuses on Lloyd and Garmadon for a majority of the movie which has been referenced in the trailers and promotional products. Dave Franco did a decent job voicing Lloyd while Justin Theroux captured Garmadon perfectly. Gone was the serious Garmadon from the animated TV series and in comes a lighthearted yet fearsome portrayal of the character. The other ninjas were in a number of scenes but to me, they are more secondary characters behind La-Lloyd. Since this is a Ninjago movie, I would’ve thought they would add more to the story but it seemed that they were thrown to the wayside. The other characters that sort of stood out a bit more than the other ninjas were Master Wu and and Koko.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

The animation was better than I expected. The sequences with the mechs and vehicles were really good and it does make the sets pop out a lot more. The action scenes were top-notch and there were easter eggs paying homage to the old school kung-fu movies. One thing that seemed a little off was that the movie does not use all brick elements to make. The water, beach sand, and grass was just some of the things that aren’t … Continue

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Target Scavenger Hunt

Next Saturday, September 30, Target stores are holding a scavenger hunt event for The LEGO Ninjago Movie. It will be held from 10am-1pm, local time, and for completing the hunt, there is a prize for it. I haven’t heard of events held at Target so I’m not sure how organized it will be. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as Walmart was for The LEGO Batman Movie.

Go to your local Target store on Saturday, September 30th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (local time) to accept your Ninja Mission and earn a cool ninja reward. Find out if you have what it takes to complete the challenge! Offer good while prize supplies last. No rainchecks.
