The LEGO DC line returns again in 2025 and the first set in the wave we’re going to check out is the Batman Tumbler vs. Two-Face & The Joker (76303). The set has 429 pieces and retails for $59.99. The last iteration of the Tumbler was back in 2021 when LEGO released a minifigure scale one and a UCS-scale version.
Minifigures
There are only three minifigures in the set, Batman, the Joker, and Two-Face. Batman is almost the same one as from the 76239 version with the torso being highly detailed with the subtle change on the belt buckle. The legs here are just plain ones. LEGO has opted to go with the rubber cape in this set which may be a problem later on when Batman gets in the Tumbler. The cowl used here is the dual-molded one with the shorter ears. His accessory is the usual Batarang.
The Heath Ledger Joker has on the purple suit with the green vest. His double-sided head is the exact same one as in the UCS Tumbler and he uses a messy Anakin Skywalker green hair. His accessory is the printed $100 bill tile.
Lastly, we have Two-Face after he was half blown up. He’s still wearing gray suit but the left side of the body is charred on both sides of the torso. The head printing shows Harvey Dent with a half burnt face. It would’ve been cooler if showed some of his skull but I guess it would’ve been too graphic. The burnt printing is also on the back of the head but is covered up by the new hair piece. His accessory is the scratched Liberty coin.
Build
There are two parts to the build, the Bat-Signal and the Tumbler itself. The Bat-Signal can turn a full 360 degrees and can tilt all the way around. The signal light uses a sticker for the Batman logo. I feel that it is just a throw-in build to give a little extra playability to the set.
The Tumbler is smaller than the previous minifigure-scale Tumbler but still has the distinct shape because of plates and panels used all around it.
The cockpit is one of main complaints from fans as it now only has one seat inside. Because LEGO used the rubber cape, it makes squeezing Batman in the seat even more difficult than if he would’ve had a fabric cape. There’s a clip above his head for the Batarang.
Towards the back, there are some stud shooters because every Super Heroes set need that play feature. The flaps on the back are clipped and can move up or down for more aerodynamics.
The rear wheels are doubled up and that gives it the wider profile in the back. A little nice detail here are the shocks which use the pearl-gold telescopes. They don’t move but nice attention to detail. Lastly, there’s a static flame from the thruster. It doesn’t spin like with the other recent Batmobile sets.
Results
Although the LEGO Batman Tumbler vs. Two-Face & The Joker (76303) looks nice it suffers from inflation syndrome. When you compare it to the previous minifigure-scale Tumbler from 2021, this set has 7 more pieces but some of them were used for the Bat-Signal and you get an extra minifigure. The previous set retailed for only $39.99 while the 2024 version has a $20 increase. Does the the extra pieces and one more minifigure justify the $20 difference? I don’t really think so. For some reason, this one also also smaller.
If you didn’t get the 76239 version from a few years ago, I would say pick this one up only if you can get it for a discount. If you already had it, then I would pass on it unless you really want the new minifigures.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
