The second set from the new LEGO BrickHeadz Pets that I’ll be taking a look at are the Shorthair Cats (40441). It has 250 pieces and retails for $14.99 and the set consists of a shorthair cat and a kitten.
The larger shorthair cat has a mostly dark gray color scheme. The head uses the bricks with studs on the side to allow it to have details on all four sides. The face uses some printed tiles for the eyes and claw pieces for the whiskers. Around its neck is a yellow bowtie for the collar. The back legs are on hinges and are designed the same way as the German Shepherd (40440). The tail on the back is also on a hinge so it can go up and down.
Although the adult cat is cute, the kitten is way cuter. It has a similar building style as the adult but shrunk down by half. The head uses a number of 1×1 bricks with studs on the side and everything is covered up nicely. Like with the adult cat, the eyes are printed and the claws again are used for the whiskers.
The Shorthair Cats also come with a teal colored basket. The inside has a couple of spots for the cats to sit in. Like with the one with the dogs, the jumpers are a bit flimsy and the cats don’t sit too well. Another annoyance is that the whole basket itself is not too well constructed. I’m guessing it’s the color choice and the limited part combinations but the corner areas aren’t connected to anything except for the black plates inside and not connected to any areas next to it. This means that they can fall off easily. Other than that, there’s some decorations in the front with the paws and the fish which are stickers.
Overall, I do like the LEGO BrickHeadz Shorthair Cats (40441) a bit more than the German Shepherd more to the fact that I think they’re more cuter. The builds are very similar down to the baskets but with changes to the detailing in respect to the animals. The basket itself is worse since the corners aren’t connected well and have a tendency to fall off.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
