According to Brick Fanatics, there will be some changes coming to the Series 9 LEGO Collectible Minifigures. A month ago, WhiteFang on Eurobricks did a review on the minifigures and did a breakdown of what he got in the box. He noted that he only had two full sets in the box instead of the usual three as in previous series, which has caused some ruckus in the LEGO community. But that is not the end of the changes as Kim Thomsen on the Ambassador site states that:
The reason for the new split is that we are introducing a smaller box with only 30 bags – and 3 is such a troublesome amount to split in half.
So now (soon) you can buy a box and get a whole set plus 14 instead of buying a box of 60.
For me as a casual collector, I don’t see an issue with this. I’m very comfortable in buying a smaller and cheaper box and know that I’m guaranteed of getting one full set plus some extras. I can also see the other side of the coin where people would like more minifigures to build an army or to resell them later. What on your thoughts on this major change to this series of Collectible Minifigures and possible future series?
