Back in March, LEGO announced some new initiatives to support children and families impacted by COVID-19 and recently, they have recently revealed how they are continuing to support families. In the past few months, they have partnered up with more agencies in other countries to support the work in those local communities to supply essential services to families which you can check out below.

How we’re continuing to support families impacted by COVID-19

We committed to delivering learning through play support and vital supplies to crisis-affected children – here’s how we’re doing.

Back in March, as the impact of COVID-19 on children’s wellbeing and development became clear, we joined forces with the LEGO Foundation to pledge over US $50m to support children and families impacted by the pandemic.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working alongside new and existing partners to strengthen and support the work they are doing in our local communities to provide essential services to families during this time.

Here’s a quick look at some of the many ways in which our partners are supporting families through these unprecedented times – whether it be bringing learning through play, ensuring children have access to education and healthcare, or helping families feel safe and supported:

People in Need

Czech Republic
This organisation is committed to combatting poverty and providing humanitarian aid to support families in the Czech Republic and around the world through the most difficult of times. Funding from the LEGO Group will help the organisation provide care and education support packages for over 1,400 vulnerable children in the Czech Republic. The packages will help children’s ongoing learning while at home, while ensuring these families continue to have access to food and essential supplies.

Les Apprentis d’Auteuil

France
Les Apprentis d’Auteuil supports families in difficult circumstances by providing safe environments to help children learn and thrive. During lockdown, the foundation’s learning support centres shut leaving many children without access to education support. The donation from the LEGO Group has helped the organization provide over 5,000 vulnerable children with digital devices so they can access school lessons online and stay connected to friends and education mentors from Les Apprentis d’Auteuil.

DEIN MÜNCHEN

Germany
Founded on the principle that all children should have fair starting conditions – independent of their social background – DEIN MÜNCHEN offers needs-based programs to disadvantaged young people. These programs provide access to education, culture and sport, and promote positive development at key points in life. Through diverse projects, the young people experience an important increase of knowledge, skills and a healthy self-esteem. During the lockdown in Germany, many young people felt even more isolated and faced more daily problems so DEIN MÜNCHEN adapted its programs to run digitally. Funding from the LEGO Group helped with the setup of the online program and ensured over 500 vulnerable children could access the service and continue to feel valued and part of the community.

Fundación Dibujando un Mañana

Mexico
Fundación Dibujando un Mañana carries out incredible work every day to promote the educational and social development of vulnerable children and adolescents in Mexico and Central America. The pandemic has placed even more pressure on families across Mexico, many of whom live in poverty. The funding from the LEGO Group will help the Foundation deliver food packages, sanitary kits and learning through play supplies and content to over 2,000 children in the State of Nuevo León, Mexico State and Mexico City to ensure they feel safe and protected during the crisis, while protecting their right to play.
