Marching on with my reviews of the new LEGO DREAMZzz set, we now take a look at one of the few villain-centric sets with the Pegasus Flying Horse (71457). The set has 482 pieces and retails for $49.99.
Minifigures
There are three minifigures in the set, Zoey, Nova, and the Nightmare King. Zoey has the dark blue and purple rogue-like outfit. It is highly detailed on both sides of the torso and it goes down to the legs as well. She also has a short cape. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk as well as a smile. Her accessories include the hourglass and a bow and arrow. Zoey also has a neck bracket for the butterfly alternate build later on.
Nova has on some sleepwear with the torso showing a sloth. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and sleeping on the other.
The Nightmare King is actually a pretty rare minifigure so far as he appears in only two sets. The torso has a very skeletal look on back and some tattered wrappings and the eye on the front. The legs also has some of the wrappings as well as printing of the toes. He has a double-sided head with one side of him with wrapping covering the face and the other showing his skeletal face. He wears a white hood that also has the black crown with the eye. A tattered black cape completes his look. His accessory is a sword also with the eye.
In addition, there’s also a Grimspawn named Susan. She’s different from other Grimspawn as she has some printing on the body. Her head shows her with a number of eyes and she has a helmet with some flames and horns. She also has a neck bracket for her wings. She has a fork as an accessory.
Build
The main build of the set is the Pegasus itself. It’s actually a lot larger than your typical horse and has a black, white, and magenta with some coral accents. All four legs are on click hinges so you can get some good stability while also being able to pose it in certain positions. The neck doesn’t move but head itself is on a ball joint so you can get some decent movement there. This is the same with the tail.
By itself, the Pegasus looks very plain but there is a separate Nightmare creature that has skinny legs and large wings with the tail hinged on the back.
This creature doubles up and becomes the wings for the Pegasus as well as a chair for the Nightmare King. This makes the Pegasus more menacing as it now gives it its full form.
The other Nightmare creature that is in the set is the cage monster which has enough space inside for Nova to sit in.
Zoey also has her own ride too. The main one is Zian in her flying form. All of the parts are on hinges including the head, wings, and tail.
The alternate build for Zian’s parts is the butterfly-like wings that connect to Zoey.
Results
The LEGO DREAMZzz Pegasus Flying Horse (71457) is a pretty fun set that seems okay for the price point. This set is one of only two ways to get the Nightmare King which is strange because I feel that he could’ve been in a few more to make him more accessible.
The different builds for the set gives it a nice variety without it being boring to assemble. I do like how the large winged Nightmare creature can be turned into the Pegasus wings and chair.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
