After a short break, we’re back to our reviews of the LEGO DREAMZzzz sets and the next one we’ll check out is the Crocodile Car (71458). The set has 494 pieces and retails for $59.99.
Minifigures
The set includes minifigures of Cooper, Jayden, and the Night Hunter, Snivel, and Logan.
Cooper is in his red racing outfit that has some nice detailing on both sides of the torso. The legs continue with the same details and also has printing for the shoes. He wears a helmet that has a blue screen. He has a double-sided head showing a determined look on one side and a sleeping expression on the other. His accessory is a brick-built hammer. Cooper does have a separate hairpieces as well.
Jayden is in the same purple unicorn pajamas that is the same as in a few other sets. Like with the other ones, his head shows him with braces and him sleeping.
The Night Hunter is the most detailed of the three minifigures. The outfit shows him with a very tattered look with chains going down the torso and legs. The back also has one of the many eyes for the character. He has a soft plastic scarf that sticks out like it’s flowing in the wind. The black wizard hat he wears also has an eye on it. His accessory is a crossbow that also has an eye in the front.
Next we have Logan in his Dreamling form which has him in a small blue body. His head is regular minifigure size showing a bottom tooth.
Snivel is a different looking Grimspawn than the ones that we’ve seen before. The most notable difference is the enormous head which shows him with a large mouth. There is a purple flame that attaches to the top of the head. The body is the small one but has printing on it. Its accessory is a spear.
Build
Before we get to the main focus of the set, there are two smaller builds with the Night Hunter’s bike as Snivel’s own bike. The Night Hunter’s bike is in a similar scale like with other bikes for other themes. There are some pink flames on the handles and wings towards the back. A couple of stud shooters are mounted on either side of the bike at the front.
Snivel’s bike is a very small one that’s about only six studs long. The front is on a hinge so you can angle the eye and there are some flames in the back.
The main build is the Crocodile Car but first we have an off-roader. There’s nothing special here but it does have a disc shooter in the front and the top can be removed to put Cooper in.
One of the transformation it has is a more souped up off-roader which incorporates parts of the crocodile to make it look like a post apocalyptic vehicle. The front part of the truck has a large grille guard using teeth pieces. It still has the disc shooter but make sure you pull the top row of teeth up or else it’ll get blocked. The hood has a large engine with the crocodile eyes on the sides.
Near the rear wheels, there are some thruster assemblies on click hinges with flames coming out the back.
The main build that you see on the box is the Crocodile Car. You have the same bodywork as the off-roader but except for using wheels, you have the legs to move the car. They are on click hinges and ball joints so there’s a decent amount of poseability.
The front part of the car is fitted with a crocodile head. The lower jaw from the other build doubles up as a small boat.
Lastly we have the tail that has four sections along with the end of the tail.
Results
The LEGO DREAMZzzz Crocodile Car (71458) has more playability than the some of the previous sets that we’ve reviewed already. The off-roader is a standard car and the enhanced version has a more apocalyptic feel to it but the more popular version is the crocodile. Like with the other DREAMZzzz sets, it is a little bit more expensive compared to the number of parts but there are some larger part included as well.
