In our last review of the LEGO Fortnite sets, we take a look at arguably the most popular set in the wave, the Battle Bus (77073). The set has 954 pieces and retails for $99.99. Ever since its release, it’s been on constant backorder but you can still put your orders in on it.
Minifigures
One of the main draws of this set is the slew of Fortnite characters in LEGO minifigure form. There are nine minifigures in the set which include Battalion Brawler, Adventure Peely, Brite Bomber, Cuddle Team Leader, Cube Assassin, Trespasser Elite, Drift, Meowscles, and Raven.
Battalion Brawler, aka Jonesy, has a very detailed torso showing his pack secured with a harness. The arms are dual molded but one of his arms is missing the printing that’s in the game. He has a double-sided head showing him with a smile on one side and a smirk on the other. His accessory is a pickaxe.
Adventure Peely uses a similar banana peel costume as the Collectible Minifigures mascot line and his one has printing all around it. He has his Nana vest along with the red scarf and the top of the peel has his goggles. His accessory is the Grappler.
Brite Bomber is another iconic character that has made its way to minifigure form. She has some very detailed printing of her unicorn shirt and equally on the legs. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk on one side and with glasses on the other. Her accessory is also a pickaxe.
Cuddle Team Leader is probably the most iconic out of the bunch and she has on the pink bear costume with the oversized head with the weird eyes. Underneath the helmet, we have who appears to be Ramirez that has a double-sided showing smiles on both sides. She also has a separate hair piece if you don’t want her wearing the bear helmet. Her accessory is a Shield Potion.
Cube Assassin has a nice glyph design on the front and back of the torso. The head uses a transparent pink piece with a crystal pattern. The look is completed with the hood piece. Its accessory is also a Shield Potion.
Trespasser Elite has on a black and silver outfit with some pink accents on the torso and helmet. He uses a shoulder armor piece but it seems small compared to the look in the game. Underneath the helmet, he also has a transparent pink head with a different style crystal pattern. His accessory is a pickaxe.
Drift has on a pink hoodie that uses a helmet piece for the kitsune mask. Under the mask, you have his regular face that’s also wearing a facemask and also includes a mohawk piece to go with his look. His accessory is the Grappler.
Meowscles is an anthropomorphic cat that has a ripped torso and for some reason, the only minifigure to have arm printing with the Lynx tattoo. The head is white and has two colors printed on it. As a result, there is a small flaw on one of the ears. His accessory is a bottle of Slap Juice.
Lastly we have Raven who has a detailed black outfit with straps going around the torso. The legs are dual molded with printing on the sides of the legs as well. The head only shows the eye while he wears a helmet with a feathered collar. His accessory is a pickaxe.
Build
The Battle Bus has a blue color scheme and has the look of a typical school bus. The interior of the bus has nine seats and gives enough room for all the minifigures to fit inside. The only exception is that Meowscles is not able to sit due to his tail but can still stand.
There are three doors on the bus, one on each side and the back emergency door. The ones on the sides are useable however the back on is sort of blocked by the seats.
At the front of the bus, it has the most details outside of the balloon, most of which are mostly in the front. The main thing is the yellow tube that goes from the front of the engine to the top of the bus. The hood can pop off to reveal the engine. Another neat thing are paint rollers that are used for the side mirrors.
The other main thing for the bus is the huge hot air ballon on the bus roof. In the middle, we have the burner with blue flames which is actually a new piece in this color. There are four clamps that are for aesthetics as they don’t attach to anything. There are four silver cables that are “tethered” to the balloon.
Results
Overall the LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus (77073) is still one of the most popular sets in this initial wave because it has been on constant backorder status since its release. Although the bus itself is fairly generic, it is very recognizable with the balloon and the gadgets on it and has a good amount of playability but also the main reason why fans want this set are for the minifigures. At the time of this post, as I said earlier, it’s on backorder but you can still order it. You just won’t get it until two months out.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
