Next up on our reviews of the LEGO Fortnite set, we now take a look at one of the more rarer skins in the game with Peely Bone (77072). The set has 1,414 pieces and retails for $99.99.
Build
There are no minifigures included in the set so we just jump straight into the build. The first thing we build is the Peely Pick Pickaxe. It uses a number of brown Technic axle and pin connectors and teeth pieces for the branch. The banana uses leaf pieces in a new yellow color. The top of the banana is sloped down a little for the curve and the other end has a cone for the end of the pickaxe.
The next bag has parts for part of the base stand along with the start of Peely Bone’s skeletal leg. The foot uses a combination of plates and slope pieces to give it a general shape of a bone foot. The bricks with holes for the foundation attaches to the base using some Technic pins.
The tibia and fibula uses white Technic axle and pin connectors along with various liftarm pieces which are secured with pins. Again the parts usage actually gives the leg a unique and somewhat realistic look.
Bags 3 and 4 are nothing too special as you build out the rest of the base as well as a very small part of the left foot.
For bag 5, we start building more of the left leg. It has more bulk to it since it’s just a regular leg. It uses SNOT bricks on the inside for the outer coverings later on.
Next up, we cover up most of the leg using round tile pieces. We also strengthen up the base of the foot with some rocks and grass.
Bag 7 gives us the parts for the torso which uses a lot of SNOT bricks. There are also yellow and white click joints for the arms.
Bag 8 is when we finally get to Peely Bone’s detailing. The regular banana side has some curved coverings which include some printed tiles for the brown spots on the peel. There’s also a printed tile for his mouth as well.
Following that, we jump to the skeleton side again, mainly the skull area. Lots of curved and sloped pieces are used to achieve the look.
Next up, we have a little subsection for the hips and the spots for the legs later on. There is also the banana peel covering for the banana side of the character.
On to bag 11, we build what I think is the more interesting parts of the build, the intestines. It uses the new pink curved tube pieces along with some other pink part to get the gutsy look.
Bag 12 focuses mostly on the skeletal side of Peely. Below the skull is a socket for the arm and for the ribs under that. The ribs use some white tail pieces as well as some white sausages. The spine uses a series of clips. The whole body finally connects to the legs on the base.
The bone arm, like the leg, uses white Technic axle and pin connectors. The hand uses the plate with the connectors and it actually works well. The wrists are then clipped on as well. The way that it is built, there is limited movement in the wrists and at the shoulders which uses click joints.
The banana side arm is built similarly to the bone arm but has more covering. One thing that is different is the Technic connector attached to the hand for the paint launcher later on.
As we get to the last bag, there is the one sticker used in the set for the half-torn Nana Nana logo. Attached to his back is the Banana Bag Back Bling which uses a couple of fairly new and rare banana bunch pieces.
Lastly we build the paint launcher that goes on the banana side hand. It uses mostly Technic pieces for the weapon. The barrel has a SNOT look and has some nice printed tiles for the detailing. The rotating cylinder in the middle uses a wheel belt piece with some different colored round bricks for the ammo.
The front of the base has a printed plaque with the LEGO Fortnite logo as well as the Peely Bone name.
Results
Overall the LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone (77072) is a really fun build that actually looks like the character from the game. My favorite part of the build is probably the skeleton side with the exposed bones and intestines. There isn’t too much playability with the set except that you can move the arms around but that’s about it. It is really meant to be more of a display piece and I don’t mind that at all as it looks great on a gaming desk or shelf. The price may seem a little high for what you get but it does have over 1,400 pieces and the finished model does stand over 14 inches tall.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
