The promotion for the LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) is now live on the LEGO Shop and we have a copy to check out. It has 301 pieces and you can get it for free with purchases of $180 or more until March 3.
Minifigures
There are two minifigures in the set. The guy has on a green sweater and his double-sided head shows him with a smile on one side and the other has him sticking out his tongue. His accessory is a broom.
The lady has on some blue overalls. Her double-sided head shows her with a concerned look on one side and a scared expression on the other.
Build
The first set of bags gives you the parts for all the furniture. This includes a two-drawer table with a lamp on top and a coin in one of the drawers. There’s also a shipping box that’s labeled “To Jazz Club” and inside of it has a donut.
The larger furniture includes a red jukebox and a piano. Lastly there’s a painting of a saxophone that can be rolled away using the red dolly.
The parts for bag 2 are solely for the moving truck. It is six wide so that gives enough space in the back to fit all the furniture as well as the dolly. You’ll have to play some Tetris to get everything in but from a practical standpoint, it doesn’t work too well since the dolly is on the top. Luckily, the roof of the truck can be removed to make things easier to get situated.
One nice little detail with the truck is that there’s a loading ramp that you can pull out.
Results
The LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) is one of those promos that I’m conflicted on. It’s a great build with lots of nice accessory builds but the price requirement to get it is a bit high which seems to be the trend lately with the GWPs. Also the timing of its release is also a little weird as it pairs with the Jazz Club but it didn’t come out with it. Obviously this is to get people to buy more but people are more more money conscious now with the sets being larger and more expensive and they prioritize the GWPs.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
