Just a few days ago, LEGO revealed the new Captain America: Brave New World sets and the first one that we’re checking out is the LEGO Marvel Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle (76292). The set has 223 pieces and retails for $54.99.
Minifigures
There are three minifigures in the set which include Captain America, Falcon, Ruth Bat-Seraph and a bigfig of Red Hulk.
Sam Wilson’s Captain America has an updated outfit but with the usual blue and red colors unlike the white one from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The wings that Sam uses has also been updated with a more flat version. I kind of preferred the wings from the Marvel Series Collectible Minifigures (71031). He does have a double-sided head with a smirk on one side and him wearing a breathing apparatus on the other. His accessory is the usual shield.
The mantle of Falcon is now taken by Joaquin Torres. Unlike in the comics, he has more of a military-style outfit for the movie. The flight suit is olive green with some armor on both sides of the torso. The wings are attached to the neck bracket and has the same rigid style as Captain America.
Ruth Bat-Seraph, aka Sabra, is actually mutant in the comics but it looks like she has been changed to a former Black Widow agent. She wears some sort armor with some metallic silver printing. Her double-sided head shows her with a stern look on one side and an angry expression on the other. Her accessory is a pistol.
Lastly we have the Red Hulk bigfig which is pretty much a palette swap of regular Hulk and there’s nothing too special about him.
Build
The only build in the set is the fighter jet. As we’ve seen already, jets are popular choices for LEGO for these small wave of sets for various movies.
The cockpit has enough room for one minifigure and there are stickers for the control panels.
The middle part of the ship has the most playability. There are two stud shooters near the wings which is a must for these kinds of sets. The top of the jet has a hidden compartment which holds a storage box full of silver ingots.
The wings use some a-frame plates which gives them a slight angle. There are a couple of stickers used for some detailing. On the back of the jet, there’s a large thruster that doesn’t do anything.
Results
In my opinion, the LEGO Marvel Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle (76292), much like some of the recent one off Marvel sets, is grossly overpriced for what you get. The jet itself was less than 180 pieces and most of the pricing went into the minifigures, especially for the Red Hulk. Unless you’re really wanting the minifigures, I would wait for a sale.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
