LEGO has been a big presence at various conventions throughout the years such as the Comic Cons in San Diego and New York. There’s been speculation of whether LEGO would make it to the 2013 New York Comic Con on October 10-13 and the news broke today that they will not be making an appearance this year. Last year, the company revealed the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line during NYCC and we were hoping there would be some sort of reveal during this year’s event. I guess they could be saving the reveals for a fully-fledged LEGO convention such as LEGO Fan Weekend or BrickWorld Fort Wayne coming up later this month instead of a convention that isn’t nearly as big as San Diego Comic Con. LEGO’s decision not to be at NYCC 2013 could also be a result of what happened during SDCC 2013 and the Super Heroes minifigure debacle. Does this also mean LEGO won’t be making any more appearances at future conventions such as next year’s NYCC and SDCC? Only time will tell.
Update: Thanks to the theBrickBlogger for the update on why LEGO will not be at New York Comic Con. Earlier this year, LEGO was in New York to reveal the giant X-Wing Starfighter to promote The Yoda Chronicles and most of their budget went to that event. That’s a sigh of relief as LEGO will probably be returning next year for future events. False alarm people!
