San Diego Comic Con 2024 is now over and I finally have some time to recap the LEGO happenings during the event. As we saw in the preview post, the LEGO Booth this year was space themed with them showcasing many of the newer LEGO space sets for various themes.
They also showcased some upcoming sets such as the LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree (77092) the newly announced LEGO Super Mario World Mario & Yoshi (71438) and LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures (71047).
In terms of exclusives, fans took part in a building a spaceship to put on the wall. In return they could get a fabric sticker patch featuring the white classic space minifigure.
In addition, there was also the LEGO Space Explorer’s Challenge where you have to take part in various missions during SDCC for a chance to win a prize pack consisting of some LEGO Marvel comics, some posters given out there, the gold LEGO Masters Keychain, the LEGO Fortnite Cuddle Team Leader minifigure, as well as the white LEGO Masters minifigure which you could say was the main LEGO chase this year. The prize pack was given out to 20 people each day so there was 80 total packs. I’ve been told there were only 135 of these minifigures made, 80 to the prize packs and 55 for the LEGO Masters signings.
During the LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising Continues panel, we got a sneak peek at what will be happening during Season 2, Part 2 of the show. If you followed my Twitter/X, I was live tweeting the panel which you can now watch on DuckBricks channel below. Unfortunately shortly after the panel, the whole Season 2, Part 2 leaked on a popular streaming channel but was later take down only after many fans were able to watch it. If you’re a true fan of the show, you should watch it in early October when it officially releases.
The LEGO Masters: Back Behind the Brick panel featured fellow RLFM Christopher Lee who was the winner of Season 4 of LEGO Masters along with winner of the LEGO Masters Australia vs the World and Season 2 of the LEGO Masters Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular, Krystle Starr.
They talked about some of their experiences on the show and yes, the timer goes in real time. They also announced Season 3 of the LEGO Masters Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular which will include Holly Robinson Peete, Sophia Bush, Lil Rel, and Eric McCormack.
After the panel, I was able to catch up with Josh and John from Beyond the Brick, Andres from Zusammengebaut, and Cody Ottley from BrickSlopes. I also got to meet DuckBricks in person for the first time and I learned something that I did not know, he’s been a fan of the site for a very long time which of course is very flattering.
Overall, San Diego Comic Con is always fun and it was great catching up with friends and colleagues. The LEGO booth was cool but it wasn’t as good as last year’s Brickbuster booth. As expected, there were no LEGO exclusive sets or minifigures that we could stand in line for hours on end to get a chance to get. It looks like you’ll have to work for future exclusives like with a scavenger hunt or doing various tasks.
