In previous years, LEGO has released various Seasonal sets for the holidays which included vignettes and brick-built characters. For 2018, that has changed dramatically as LEGO has incorporated the Seasonal sets into the LEGO BrickHeadz line. A few weeks ago, all of the 2018 LEGO Seasonal BrickHeadz were revealed including the one that is available starting today, the Valentine’s Bee (40270). It consists of 140 pieces and retails for $9.99.
Build
The Valentine’s Bee has the distinct shape that is seen in all other BrickHeadz sets. It mainly uses the 1X2X1 brick with studs on the side to get the SNOT look for the head and body which is mainly flame yellowish orange and black.
On the back of the Bee, there are a couple of clips for the white wings and there’s even a black cone for the stinger.
For the head, some of the details include 1×1 magenta tiles for her blush on the cheeks and a combination of voodoo balls and cones for the antennas.
Some of the the Valentine’s Bee’s accessories include a heart decoration as well as a pot of honey.
For the base, there’s even more accessories to go with the set including some grassy areas that hase some roses and sunflowers. The exclusive printed 2×4 tile in the front shows the BrickHeadz mascot logo as well as a new Seasonal calendar print.
Results
Overall, I love what LEGO has done with the LEGO Seasonal BrickHeadz Valentine’s Bee (40270). After seeing all of the upcoming sets for the rest of the year, they actually don’t look bad at all and to know that there are accessory builds to go along with the BrickHeadz themselves is a great selling point.
This is actually some smart marketing strategy by LEGO to integrate the Seasonal sets to the BrickHeadz theme. For collectors of the BrickHeadz, this move is an incentive for them to continue to collect them if they’ve never collected the Seasonal sets.
I’m definitely looking forward to the Easter Bunny which will be coming out in February.
