LEGO Seasonal Christmas Tree (40338)

This past weekend, LEGO VIPs were able to get the first 2019 LEGO Seasonal exclusive with the Christmas Tree (40338) early with purchases of $120 or more. The set has 392 pieces and is one of the biggest Christmas Trees LEGO has released as a GWP. All the parts are packed into two numbered bags.

The build is straightforward and a bit repetitive with all the layers of leaves. They are differentiated by the various round ornaments and lights made of translucent colored gems.

The base of the tree has a couple of trains that is a disguised play feature. The inside part of the tree trunk acts a spinner using a turntable and can be rotated at the top of the tree to make the trains go around. The two doors on the sides act as pillars to hold down the bottom of the tree.

Lastly, there are a couple of different colored and sized presents to go along with the tree.

Overall, the Christmas Tree (40338) is one of the better looking trees LEGO has produced. The higher price point to get it sort of correlates to the number of pieces in the set. Before you could purchase a Winter Village set and get these holiday GWPs but not anymore and that sort of stings.

As of this writing, the Christmas Tree is still available on LEGO Shop@Home for a few more hours and will be available again during the Black Friday 2019 weekend event later this week with the same purchase threshold of $120.
