LEGO has just released the LEGO Seasonal Valentine Lovebirds (40522) which has 286 pieces and retails for $12.99. We have had the set in hand a little early to check out to see if it is on par with previous years’ Valentine sets.
The set comes in six numbered bags and two instruction booklets, one for each of the birds. Although the set is not listed as a Build Together set, the two booklets allows a couple to build the set as the same time which is pretty cool.
The birds build similar to the BrickHeadz with the SNOT techniques. It’s a really simple build but there’s a lot that goes into it with the detailing. Lots of tile pieces are used to cover up the exposed studs all around with just a few left over. The first bird is mostly orange colored in the head and chest areas with a color gradient change as you go down to the body.
The other bird is the same exact build but the colors have been changed up a little bit to tell them apart with the head being mostly bright yellow colored.
As with previous Seasonal sets, there’s also a base that goes along with the main builds and for the Lovebirds, there’s a small branch that they can stand on. The branch actually looks a bit realistic with some green twigs growing out of it. There are also a bunch of pink and magenta hearts splattered on it as well. The two birds sit on the turntable pieces and there’s enough room to spin them around. To finish off the build, there’s a floating heart in the back.
Overall, this the LEGO Seasonal Valentine Lovebirds (40522) is a very cute set that many will enjoy. The fact that the build can be built simultaneously by two people makes it even better. If you’re on a Valentine’s Day date, this set would definitely make a fun activity.
