Although Chinese New Year is over, we still want to take a look at another Spring Festival set that can be used yearly with the Trotting Lantern (80116). The set has 1,295 pieces and retails for $129.99.

Minifigures
There are five minifigures in the set, a family with two kids and another character dressed up as a snake. The father has on a t-shirt with a record and a denim jacket over that. His double-sided head shows him with smiles on both sides, one with him also winking. His accessory is a brick-built shadow puppet.

The mother has on a traditional Chinese outfit that is half teal and brown. The detailing on it is pretty intricate on both sides of the torso. She has a single-sided head with her smiling. Her accessories include a plate of dumplings and a pair of chopsticks.

The son has on a colorful jacket showing the number 27 on the back. He also has a single-sided head with a smile. His accessories include a pair of chopsticks and a bowl.

The daughter has on the exact same outfit as her mother. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and a shocked expression on the other. Her accessory is a printed 1×2 tile of a red envelope.

Lastly we have the snake costume character who also wears a traditional Chinese outfit. It is decorated with a pearl-gold snake that goes on both sides of the torso. The helmet that he wears is a new snake head piece. His accessory is a pair of scissors.

Build
The lantern itself has your typical red and gold color scheme which is synonymous with what we usually see during this time of the year.
The lantern has eight sides and is made up of three different sections. The base is the most repetitive part of the build as you build the same things multiple times to get the octagon shape.

Inside the base is a light up brick that also acts as a projector. There are two scenes that you can use which are the 1×2 printed panels. One of them show the Monkey King and the other shows a deer holding the prosperity sign. You can switch out the panels by taking off one side of the octagon. The project lights up by pressing the knob on top of the lantern.

The middle section of the lantern opens up to reveal three shops. The left one has a food stall that sells dumplings. There’s a food cart that has stickers for the logo and a menu for the quantities of dumplings you can get.

The middle shop is a shadow theater showing a story that involves the classic space man.

The shop on the right has a decoration stall filled with signs and figures.

The tops of the lantern has a number of smaller lanterns going around the whole thing with broom pieces being the tassels.

Results
Every year I look forward to the LEGO Spring Festival sets and the Trotting Lantern (80116) is something you can reuse every year. The projection light works as well as it can get and the changing scenes give it some variety. Hopefully LEGO can do more of these clear panels scenes so we can interchange them out. The minifigure selection is fine but I expected more as we used to get a bunch of them in the Spring Festival sets. The only downside I see is the price point which is a just a tad high.

Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
