In my last review of the 2023 LEGO Super Mario sets, we check out the Fliprus Snow Adventure (71417) which has 567 pieces and retails for $64.99.
Build
Starting on the largest area of the course, there’s a large platform where the Snowman stands and below is where Freezie is at. The object here is to jump on the branch on the left to knock over Freezie to get the fruit tag inside. Another feature here at the top is to turn the area and the Snowman’s head will roll off the icicle to knock over the Koopa below. The Snowman uses mostly round parts to get its shape. It has a printed round tile for its face. Freezie uses a lot of sloped pieces for its shape. It has a printed shield tile for the face and a tag on the back.
For the lake area, there’s lots of room for any character to slide on to get some coins. At the end of the lake, there’s a fireplace area where you can scan the tag to get a soothing fire crackling sound while roasting some marshmallows.
The Red Koopa Troopa looks to be exclusive to this set. It’s the same as the green ones but the shell is red. There are printed pieces for the eyes and the scanner on the back of the shell.
The Fliprus area is pretty fun as you can jump on the platform to make Fliprus launch some snowballs. Once both snowballs are gone, it reveals a coin tag on the flippers. It has a printed slope for the eyes and before-mentioned tag on the flippers.
Lastly we have a smaller lake where the Penguin is at. It’s short and chubby and kind of looks like Tuxie from Mario 64. There’s nothing much to it but it has some printed eyes. You can actually deliver the fruit from where Freezie is at and give it to the Penguin.
Results
Overall the LEGO Super Mario Fliprus Snow Adventure (71417) is actually quite a fun set with lots of interactive areas, more than I expected to be. I do like the amount of characters included especially some that are exclusive to this set like the Koopa and Fliprus. If you were to pick up any LEGO Super Mario sets, this one would be one of the few I recommend.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
