Last month, LEGO unveiled the life-size X-wing Starfighter in New York. The starfighter has traveled safely from New York and now resides at LEGOLAND California. In the video below, LEGO Master Model Builder, Gary McIntyre, shows the viewer around the ship and tells the back story of how it got from the East Coast all the way to California. Right now, it is safely stored away in a hanger area at the resort and will be open for the public to view on June 13th until the end of the year. To give some details on the ship, it contains 5,335,200 bricks and weighs 45,979.61 pounds. It stands at 11 feet tall and is 43 feet in length with a wingspan of 44 feet. 32 builders at the LEGO Model Shop in Kladno, Czech Republic spent 17,336 hours to construct the starfighter. It is made to look like set 9493 from a few years ago. The giant version of the ship is 42 times the size of the real LEGO set.
