20% Off LEGO Jurassic World, Minecraft, Elves at Toys R Us

Toys R Us is having a pretty good promotion this week on various LEGO sets. You can get 20% off all LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Minecraft, and LEGO Elves which is good both online and in stores. On top of that, the LEGO Bionicle promotion is stackable so with purchases of $40 or more, you can either get the Skull Warrior (70791), Skull Slicer (70792), or Skull Basher (70793) for free as well.

The LEGO Movie Sequel Script to be Rewritten

There has been many changes going on for The LEGO Movie Sequel in the past few months. Last month, it was reported that the movie was pushed back a second time to February 2, 2019 from the original release date of May 26, 2017. Variety is now reporting that Warner Bros. has hired Raphael Bob-Waksberg to rewrite the script for the movie. With Phil Lord and Chris Miller being busy with other projects, the studio went in another direction for the writing.

Although it’s not that unusual for movies to be rewritten this early in production, it does seem a little worrisome that there are so many changes announced for The LEGO Movie Sequel so far. Hopefully these changes are for the best.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2017 Hulk vs. Red Hulk Revealed

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Hulk vs. Red Hulk

The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed another 2017 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set that will be displayed at San Diego Comic Con in a few weeks with the Hulk vs. Red Hulk set. The 375 piece set will be available in January at a $59.99 price point.

The set will include Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, and Red She-Hulk along with their respective vehicles. This set marks the first time that She-Hulk and Red She-Hulk is in minifigure form. Red-Hulk is basically the Hulk bigfig with some slight color differences.

As mentioned before, the set will be shown off at SDCC along with the 2017 Marvel Mighty Micros. It looks like LEGO is bring the heat with all these cool Super Heroes sets next year and hopefully we’ll get to see more soon.

LEGO Illustrator Dan Veesenmeyer at San Diego Comic Con 2016

LEGO news has been fairly quiet so far for San Diego Comic Con 2016 but here’s something that might be of interest to you if you’re attending. LEGO illustrator Dan Veesenmeyer will be attending the event in a couple of weeks and can be found at Artist Alley #EE-21. If that name sounds familiar, you’ve probably seen his work in the LEGO Club Magazines, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers video game, as well as an upcoming book for kids called How to Draw LEGO Ninjago.

Dan will be selling prints and doing commissions (first come, first served) for SDCC attendee throughout the weekend. The prints will start at $10 each and are signed and numbered while inked LEGO minifigure sketches start at $40. Kids will also be able to get free head sketches during the event. So if you have some time, swing by Dan’s booth and check out what he has to offer.

Blocks Issue 21 Press Release

Blocks Issue 21

Blocks has sent over their press release for Issue 21 of the magazine.

Secrets from the LEGO Architect in Blocks magazine

Have you ever wondered about the designers behind the LEGO sets you buy? Blocks Issue 21, on sale now, has an interview with Adam Reed Tucker – the man behind LEGO Architecture. Here is a sample of the conversation he had with Blocks magazine, that had to be left out because we didn’t have the space…

Adam Reed Tucker is living the dream of many – if not most – LEGO fans. Many know that he has designed sets with the LEGO Group and tours exhibitions of his skyscrapers, but as well as that he has been a speaker for LEGO Education, worked on a DK book and contributed to the Master Builder Academy. It’s all in a day’s work for a LEGO Certified Professional.

But one surprising thing about this LCP is the controversial methods he will employ when necessary. He prefers to be a purist – but is willing to bend that rule when he needs to. 100% purist builders should not read any further.

‘The one area I am not a purist in,’ Adam tells Blocks, ‘is that, if it is absolutely necessary, I will cut pieces. There were times when I needed a 1×11 plate for the rollercoaster. There is nothing that I can do. I cannot take a 1×3 and a 1×8, because I can’t splice them. I could glue them, but I’ll just take a 12 and snip a

LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828) Review

LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828)

When the LEGO officially announced the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828) set, there was very mixed reactions to it, much like to the trailer when it came out, although it was towards the positive side more unlike for the trailer itself.

For me personally when I saw the details of the new Ecto-1, I actually liked it because of some of the details and features it has which I’ll get to later on. The Ecto-1 & 2 contains 556 pieces and retails for $59.99 which actually isn’t too bad for a licensed set. The contents of the box includes four numbered bags, one instruction booklet, and a small sticker sheet.
