LEGO Store February 2015 Monthly Mini Build Event Space Shuttle (40127) Review

LEGO February 2015 Monthly Mini Build

Today is the first Tuesday of the month and that means the LEGO Monthly Mini Build was held today. For February 2015, the build is a Space Shuttle (40127). This one was a pretty popular one because the line for it literally wrapped around the walkway. If you’ve been to Fashion Valley before, the line ended up at the entrance of Bloomingdale’s and eventually Forever 21.

The build itself consists of 39 pieces and it has a pretty cool look to it. The only thing that I didn’t like much about it is the bottom of the front of the shuttle. It kind of looks too blocky for my taste. However, the back of it has a nice look. Although it’s a fairly simple build, it has nice overall appearance to it.

Next month’s Monthly Mini Build will be a little Robot which you can check out on the March 2015 Store Calendar. As always, it was nice to see the regulars there and chatting it up with them.

Video of Super Bowl XLIX Commercials Recreated in LEGO

A few days ago, we reported that UK animation studio A+C Studios was going to recreate the commercials from Super Bowl XLIX into LEGO form in the Brick Bowl.

It took the studio 36 hours to recreate nine of the commercials that were shown on Sunday from the Jurassic World trailer to Snicker and Toyota. It’s not a total recreation of the commercials as I thought it would be but it’s still very cool with some humor thrown in as well.

This Friday, A+C Studios will be releasing “The Making of Brick Bowl” which will show the 36 hour progress of making the video.

LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin Release Date & Screenshots

When we first reported the new LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin that will be available for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, we had a temporary release date for this summer. Both Amazon and GameStopicon have updated the release date of the game to March 24. Both versions of the game will retail for $29.99 and we now also have some screenshots of it as well. Thanks to Jared for the heads up.

There is a new threat in Ninjago, and he goes by the name of Ronin. With help from his army of dark samurai, Ronin steals the Ninjas’ memories using an ancient weapon called the Obsidian Glaive. In LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin, it is up to players to help the Ninjas regain their memories and reclaim their powers before Ronin completes his plan and releases an even greater evil on Ninjago.

New LEGO Ideas Doctor Who Set Rumor

Somehow I missed this last week but there’s an interesting rumor coming out of Eurobricks regarding the Doctor Who projects on LEGO Ideas. There wasn’t much detail given but it stated “something involving all 13.” To give a little background, two Doctor Who projects hit 10,000 supporters during the First 2014 Review Stage and their results have been in limbo since then. LEGO is close to revealing the Second 2014 Stage results, or so they’ve said last month, and will also be sharing the results of the Doctor Who projects as well along with it.

With this new piece of information, it may suggest that LEGO will indeed be producing a set involving all 13 Doctors. I’m not as familiar with the hit TV show as I should be so correct me if I’m wrong. Technically, Peter Capaldi is the Twelfth Doctor but this also includes John Hurt’s War Doctor between Paul McGann’s Eighth and Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth so that makes all thirteen of them.

What could this mean for a possible LEGO Ideas set? I have absolutely no clue. Don’t get your hopes up yet because this rumor could be totally false and this post was for naught but if it was approved, I would guess that it could be a set with the TARDIS that includes a stand for all the incarnations of the Doctor. It’s been a while since we’ve had any updates from the LEGO Ideas team so many fans are anxious to see the results. What are your thoughts on this … Continue

Nuremberg Toy Fair 2015 LEGO Videos

If you still haven’t gotten enough of the LEGO sets shown at the 2015 Nuremberg Toy Fair, Spieletest has post some videos of various themes showing off some of the summer 2015 sets including LEGO City, Ninjago, Elves, Speed Champions, BIONICLE, and Ultra Agents. Here you can get a closer look at some of the sets that weren’t seen in images the past week or so. You can also get a nice look at some of the minifigures that will be included with the sets. Unfortunately, there are no videos of the licensed sets. The videos fly through the sets pretty fast but at least you can pause the video to see some of the details.

New Images of LEGO Star Wars Death Star Final Duel & 2015 Advent Calendar

Continuing with the theme of images getting snuck out of the 2015 Nuremberg Toy Fair, Hoth Bricks has published a couple images of the Summer 2015 wave of LEGO Star Wars sets. In the first image, we get the Death Star Final Duel (75093). This scene depicts the climax of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi where Luke Skywalker battles Darth Vader while Emperor Palatine watches on. There are also two Royal Guards at the entrance of the throne room. You can also see the reactor shaft where Palpatine was thrown into on the right side.

The other image is of the Star Wars 2015 Advent Calendar (75097), more particularly of C-3P0 dressed in a Santa costume and R2-D2 as a reindeer. They look very reminiscent of the characters from Ralph McQuarrie Christmas Card in 1979. I must say it’s a pretty cool nod to the late illustrator.
