The LEGO Group Abandons Plans for Recycled Plastic Bricks

In some news over in the sustainability front, it has been reported that The LEGO Group has abandoned their efforts to use recycled plastics for their bricks after findings that the new material caused higher carbon emissions. As reported from the Financial Times and Reuters, the plastics from recycled polyethylene terephthalate led to higher emissions in which the company is trying to reduce to greenhouse gas emissions by 2032 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The new bricks made from recycled bottles were revealed back in 2021 would also required new equipment to produce over the product’s lifetime.

LEGO Disney 100 Years Celebration (40600) & Houses of the World 3 (40594) Promotions Available on LEGO Shop

As reported yesterday, the promotion for the LEGO Disney 100 Years Celebration (40600) is now available again on the LEGO Shop. You can get the set for free with purchases of $100 in LEGO Disney and Disney DUPLO but it excludes Star Wars and Marvel.

In addition, you can get the LEGO Houses of the World 3 (40594) with purchases of $250 or more. There’s a lot of new sets that have been released since the two promotions initially ran a few months ago so it’s a little easier to get them. Both promos will run from now until September 30, while supplies last.

LEGO Toys R Us Mini Hobby Series Revealed

Toys R Us in the Asia Pacific region has started a new promotion called the LEGO Mini Hobby Series which features a series of small builds revolving around various hobbies. Each week until the end of October, there will be a new build to collect when you spend a certain amount. They aren’t listed as the annual Bricktober sets although TRU Canada lists them as part of the Bricktober deals. We’ll see if they come as LEGO Insiders Rewards in the future. Note that Toys R Us Canada also has some of the builds but not all of them.

LEGO Disney 100 Years Celebration (40600) Promotion Returning Soon

We’ve received word that the “sold out” LEGO Disney 100 Years Celebration (40600) gift with purchase set will be coming back in a few days. From September 23-30, you can get the set with $100 purchase of LEGO Disney and Disney DUPLO. This also excludes Star Wars and Marvel even though they’re owned by Disney.

If you remember, the Disney 100 Years Celebration promotion went live in July and it sold out in less than a day. LEGO Brand Stores also reportedly didn’t get much in stock as well. Either LEGO had some production shortage of the set when it initially rolled out or they produced some more in the months since then due to the limited run a few months ago.
