Forty Nine Projects Qualify for LEGO Ideas Second 2023 Review Stage

The qualifying period for the LEGO Ideas Second 2023 Stage is now complete and there were 49 projects that will now go into review to see which one(s) will become official sets. It started off fairly slow with only a handful of projects hitting 10k supporters but then really picked up towards the end of qualifying. It was also an interesting one as five Taylor Swift projects reached the goal with four of them being the same concept. Which one(s) do you want to see as a set in the future?

LEGO Icons Concorde (10318) and LEGO Ideas The Insect Collection (21342) Now Available

It’s September 4 and that means there are some new releases on the LEGO Shop which includes the LEGO Icons Concorde (10318) and the LEGO Ideas The Insect Collection (21342). The Concorde has 2,083 pieces and retails for $199.99 while the Insects have 1,111 pieces and is priced at $79.99. LEGO is still in the middle of the Hogwarts promotional period so there’s no extra GWPs for these two sets.

LEGO Marvel Studios Series 2 Collectible Minifigures (71039) Already Being Stolen in Stores

Only a day after its official release, fans are already finding open boxes of the Series 2 LEGO Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures (71039). As you can see in the image, this was found at a Walmart with at least 20 of the blind boxes opened up. It was noted by the OP that a lot of pieces were missing from them as well.

We already knew going in that this was a very bad idea even though to LEGO, it was more environmentally friendly for them and the consumer. I guess we’ll start seeing retailers putting them in security cases or behind the counters to deter thieves. This has turned out to be more of a headache for fans as compared to the bagged ones.

If you want to collect the set, I suggest just going to the secondary market. You may pay a little bit more than if you would buying them at retail but you don’t have to worry about getting doubles or even finding them at all because of issues like this. Hopefully LEGO sees the issue and complaints from fans and retailers to know that this wasn’t going to end well.

LEGO Ideas Viking Village (21343) Pre-Orders Live

A few days ago, LEGO revealed the LEGO Ideas Viking Village (21343) and you can now pre-order the set. Releasing on October 1, the 2,103 piece set retails for $129.99 and is part of the LEGO Ideas x Target campaign in which the retailer will have it as an exclusive. For Fall Geek-Out, Target also has the set up for pre-order as well. If you have the RedCard, you can also get 5% off on it in addition to getting LEGO Insider pints for uploading your receipt. There’s no promotions going on for it right now but I’m guessing it’ll be a pretty popular set when it launches.

What LEGO Disney Mini Sets You Want to See in the Future?

The last couple of years, LEGO has released some smaller LEGO Disney sets based on iconic locations in their history such as the Mini Disney Castle (40478) and the Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion (40521). That theme will be continuing this year as yesterday they revealed the Mini Disney Palace of Agrabah (40613) which will be releasing in October. It’s a similar style to the previous two sets but it will not include a minifigure which is the most glaring omission.

Nevertheless, it’s another location from a Disney IP and that makes me wonder what we could be seeing in the future if they do decide to continue this line. There’s almost an unlimited number of locales that LEGO could use from their vast range of IPs. Even just at the Disney parks, there’s a bunch of rides that could be made like Space Mountain, the Monorail, and the Dumbo Flying Elephant. If you’re a fan of these sets, what do you want to see LEGO make in the future if they do decide to continue the line?
