LEGO Celebrates 89th Birthday

Today, LEGO celebrates its 89th birthday. On this day way back in 1932, Ole Kirk Christiansen began making his iconic wooden toys. It wasn’t until 1958 when the first brick was patented by his son and the rest is history. If you haven’t seen The LEGO Story below, it’s a great animated video showing LEGO’s history.

I don’t think there’s anything special planned for today but we can surely expect something big for next year when LEGO celebrates nine decades of play. One thing is the 90th anniversary fan vote in which LEGO will be choosing a classic theme to make a set for.

LEGO VIDIYO Amazon Sales – August 2021

The LEGO VIDIYO sales have slowly been hitting products over on Amazon. We’ve already seen that some of the BeatBox sets have been reduced down to $5 at various Walmart locations but that’s only if the stores marked them as clearance. Usually, they get snatched up pretty quickly.

Amazon has a majority of the first wave of BeatBox on sale for 20%. Some of them aren’t listed as a sale item but remember they retail for $19.99 each.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Announced for Nintendo Switch

Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, The LEGO Group and Marvel Entertainment has announced that the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 5. With the game, you’ll also get the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Super Pack and Asgard Pack DLCs which will include both Super Heroes and Villains characters to play as.

LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes Launches on Nintendo Switch this Fall

Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, The LEGO Group and Marvel Entertainment today announced the critically acclaimed LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes is arriving to Nintendo Switch™ on Oct. 5, 2021. Featuring an original story crossing the entire Marvel Universe and filled with classic LEGO videogame adventure and humor, players take on the role of their favorite Marvel Super Heroes as they unite to stop a host of villains from destroying the world. LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi Escape from The Ten Rings (76176) Amazon Sale – August 2021

Even though the set hasn’t been out that long, the LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi Escape from The Ten Rings (76176) is already on sale over on Amazon. The set currently has a 22% discount which makes the price at $23.47. The movie comes out next month and the set loosely recreates a scene from it and it includes minifigures of Shang-Chi, Wenwu, Katy, and Razor Fist.

LEGO Ideas Carl’s House Achieves 10,000 Supporters

Carl’s House by Yang Yang is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build is based on Carl’s iconic colored house from Up and you can remove various sections of the house to reveal more details. It also proposed minifigures of Carl, Russell, Dug, and a brick-built Kevin.

John’s Medieval Watermill by Mind the Brick is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build features the story of John and the watermill that was passed on to him. It has two floors with removable sections to access the inside including the watermill mechanism, a living area, and a bunk bed in the attic.

The Nyhavn – Copenhagen, Denmark project by MathiasJulin is the latest one to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 2,404 piece build is stylized in a “Skyline” setting that has seven townhouses. There is also a waterway that includes a small lightship called the Gedser Rev.
