LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) Promotion Extended Until July 20

LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486)

LEGO has quietly extended the promotion for the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) gift with purchase set on the LEGO Shop. I’m not sure what’s going on with it but you now have until July 20 to get your orders in for it. Originally, the promotion was supposed to run from July 1-25 but then it got cut short to July 1-14 when the Store Calendar came out and it looks like they settled on a compromise. This also means that you’ll be able to double up on the double VIP points event from July 12-18 as well as the LEGO Minions Bob Minion with Robot Arms (30387) polybag which also runs to July 20.

LEGO Listed as San Diego Comic Con 2021 at Home Exhibitor

San Diego Comic Con 2021 at Home will be happening in a few weeks and the panel and exhibitor lists have been revealed and it looks like LEGO will be doing something during the event. It doesn’t look like they will be doing any panels but they are on the exhibitor list which makes me think there will be some LEGO exclusives.

As we know by now, LEGO usually does exclusives during SDCC and there were even a few sets and minifigures last year but they weren’t revealed until months after the event. It looks like this year could be a little different and they may be selling something as they are more prepared this year than last year when the pandemic was in full swing.

Other companies have already been revealing and doing pre-orders for their exclusives so it’ll be interesting to see if LEGO announces any exclusives or reveals any new sets. Obviously, this is just my thinking and LEGO may not be doing anything at all but we’ll see. San Diego Comic Con 2021 at Home will be happening in a few weeks from July 23-25.

Marvel Studios’ What If…? Official Trailer Released

Earlier today, Marvel released the official trailer for the What If…? animated series on Disney+. The series takes a look at major moments from the MCU if they occurred differently. LEGO will have a few sets based on the show, two of which have already been revealed with Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man (76194) and Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201). There are a few more rumored sets with T’Challa as Star Lord and Gamora as Thanos but those haven’t been revealed yet. Funko has already revealed these characters if you want to check out what they look like.

The LEGO sets will be available starting on August 1 and you can now pre-order the Captain Carter sets on the LEGO Shop.

LEGO Gives Update on BrickLink Designer Program

LEGO just finished a roundtable regarding the BrickLink Designer Program regarding some of the concerns from the initial launch last week. There was massive traffic to BrickLink compared to Black Friday shopping. In fact, somehow there were actually 10,000 Castle in the Forest sets sold when there was originally a limit of 5,000 total pre-orders per project. As a result, LEGO/BrickLink will allow the other projects to also reach 10,000 pre-orders as well. The first round of crowdfunding will reopen again on August 3 to allow that to happen. The Castle will not reopen for pre-orders since it already reach 10k pre-orders already. This will in turn push the dates of the next crowdfunding rounds back even further.

There will now be a limit of one pre-order per person to allow more fans to get their hands on the sets. If you saw, resellers were selling the Castle in the Forest for about $800 after it was the first set to sell out. LEGO has also taken action against resellers on eBay to not allow scalpers to profit from it.

As far as designs and pricing for the next projects not mentioned in the press release below, LEGO may reveal them a bit early give buyers details of them before crowdfunding starts.
