LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets (76389) Review

Continuing with my reviews of the new wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets, the next one I’ll be checking out is the Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets (76389). The set has 1,176 pieces and retails for $129.99 and it is based on the second movie.

Minifigures

There are a whopping 11 minifigures in the set which include Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley, Colin Creevey, Luna Lovegood, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Tom Riddle, Gilderoy Lockhart, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Sinistra, Nearly Headless Nick, and Anniversary Lord Voldemort.

Harry has on his usual black robe that is open to show the gray sweater. He has a double-sided head that shows him with a smile on one side and a scared expression on the other. His accessory is the Sword of Gryffindor.

Ginny Weasley also has on a black Gryffindor robe but it is closed so you can only see a sliver of the inner sweater. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and a sad expression on the other. Her accessories include a wand and Tom Riddle’s diary.

Colin Creevey also has a clasped robe similar to Ginny. His double-sided head shows him with a smile one one side and a sad look on the other. His accessories include his wand and camera.

Luna also has a closed robe but with Ravenclaw colors. Like with the others, she has a double-sided head showing a smile on one side and a sad expression on the other.

LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006746) Promotion Starts Tonight

It’s been a pretty crazy month so far with LEGO news and if you have forgotten, there’s a new promotion that starts tonight. The LEGO Swing Ship Ride (5006746) will be the promo item and you can get it free with purchases of $85 or more on the LEGO Shop, while supplies last.

The set has 152 pieces and in the middle of it has a sticker that says “Leg Godt” which means “Play Well” in Danish. The set was previously an Asia exclusive that was used to celebrate International Children’s Day.

LEGO CON 2021 Hosts Announced

LEGO CON 2021 is next week and the hosts of event have been announced today. There will be two hosts next week and they are Melvin Odoom and Michelle Khare. Odoom hosted the UK version of LEGO Masters while Khare is a YouTuber. LEGO CON will be happening on June 26 at 12pm EST/9am PST with a number of events including a LEGO Star Wars set announcement.

World’s Largest Football Made of LEGO Bricks

The 2020 European Football Championship qualifiers are well underway and LEGO has created the world’s biggest football and is displayed at the LEGO House. The build uses 173,600 classic 2×2 LEGO bricks and it stands over 4 meters tall. It took builders 150 hours to complete the 2.5 ton football.

It will be displayed at the LEGO House and can be viewed free of charge in the publicly accessible Square until the UEFA finals on July 11. Which team are are rooting for in the EURO 2020?

LEGO Botanical Collection Bird of Paradise (10289) Available for Pre-Order on LEGO Shop

The LEGO Botanical Collection Bird of Paradise (10289) is now available for pre-order on the LEGO Shop. The set has 1,173 pieces and will retail for $99.99. While you can pre-order now, it won’t be released until August 1. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it.

New LEGO Elephant Molds Teased Back in March

It’s fairly rare that LEGO designers reveal their secrets but there’s one that has been revealed for an upcoming LEGO City set. Designer George Gilliatt has disclosed that the new elephants in the upcoming summer 2021 LEGO City Wildlife Rescue Operation (60302) were actually teased back in March in the LEGO Creator Safari Wildlife Tree House (31116). As you can see, there’s a printed picture tile of the prototype elephants in the treehouse. I guess we’ll just have to scrutinize every little details in sets for hints on future items.

The Wildlife Rescue Operation will be available starting on August 1 and it is one of two sets in the wave with the new adult elephant molds, the other set being the Wildlife Rescue Camp (60307).

LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (10282) Designer Video

A few days ago, LEGO announced the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (10282) buildable shoe and today, they dropped the designer video for it. Designer Florian Müller talks about the details of the shoe including some new elements such as the 5×5 dome piece that will most likely be in future sets. He also goes into detail about the box which is a replica of a real shoebox.

Also almost midway through the video, LEGO has teased the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) gift with purchase set. It’ll most likely be available starting in July when the shoe drops but we’ll see if you’ll actually need to purchase the shoe to get it.
