The LEGO Botanical Collection Bird of Paradise (10289) is now available for pre-order on the LEGO Shop. The set has 1,173 pieces and will retail for $99.99. While you can pre-order now, it won’t be released until August 1. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it.
It’s fairly rare that LEGO designers reveal their secrets but there’s one that has been revealed for an upcoming LEGO City set. Designer George Gilliatt has disclosed that the new elephants in the upcoming summer 2021 LEGO City Wildlife Rescue Operation (60302) were actually teased back in March in the LEGO Creator Safari Wildlife Tree House (31116). As you can see, there’s a printed picture tile of the prototype elephants in the treehouse. I guess we’ll just have to scrutinize every little details in sets for hints on future items.
The Wildlife Rescue Operation will be available starting on August 1 and it is one of two sets in the wave with the new adult elephant molds, the other set being the Wildlife Rescue Camp (60307).
DID YOU NOTICE: The brand new LEGO elephants from City set 60302 were actually teased back in March – prototype versions of the animals feature on the decorated tile in my Creator set 31116. Graphic designer @Fanboy30 is so sneaky! 🐘 #LEGO#AFOLpic.twitter.com/dgpDYgQNVY
A few days ago, LEGO announced the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (10282) buildable shoe and today, they dropped the designer video for it. Designer Florian Müller talks about the details of the shoe including some new elements such as the 5×5 dome piece that will most likely be in future sets. He also goes into detail about the box which is a replica of a real shoebox.
Also almost midway through the video, LEGO has teased the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) gift with purchase set. It’ll most likely be available starting in July when the shoe drops but we’ll see if you’ll actually need to purchase the shoe to get it.
LEGO has revealed the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar (40486) gift with purchase set in the new designer video for the 10282 set. The set features a little shoe but with the color scheme reversed. It also includes a minifigure that wears a little printed shoebox. There’s no word yet on how to get it but details for it should be coming soon.
Continuing with some of rumors of new LEGO summer 2021 sets, there’s now one for a LEGO Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279). The original Volkswagen T1 Camper Van was finally retired last year after being on the market for a whopping nine years and it looks like there’s a replacement for it coming soon. There’s no word on piece count or the color scheme but it is reported that it could retail for 179.99€ which is a lot more expensive than the T1. This could suggest that it will have more pieces than the T1 as well.
There’s a new rumor that has surfaced for a LEGO Technic Ford Raptor F-150 (42126). It is said to have 1,379 pieces and will retail for 139.99€. The release date for it would be on October 1. The color scheme is rumored to be bright orange with black accents similar to the one above. The Raptor is one of the more recognizable Ford trucks and I’m curious to see if LEGO is able to pull it off given their ingenuity of using parts to get the right angles on Technic vehicles.
