LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival 2022 Sets Now Available on LEGO Shop

The new 2022 LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets are now available for purchase in North America on the LEGO Shop. The Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) retails for $79.99 while the Lunar New Year Ice Festival (80109) is priced at $119.99 and both sets are the newest ones to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

In addition, the Year of the Tiger (40491) is also available as a gift-with-purchase set with purchases of $85 or more, while supplies last. The promo also doubles up with the LEGO Monkie Kid’s Underwater Journey (30562) polybag when you buy $40 on LEGO Monkie Kid or LEGO Ninjago sets. Update: The Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) product listing is not coming up anymore. If the page does come up, the listing says “Coming Soon” so I’m not sure what’s going on with it.

LEGO has put up the product pages for the new 2022 LEGO Chinese Traditional Festivals sets which we got a first look at a few days ago. There are two sets in this wave and they include the Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) and Lunar New Year Ice Festival (80109) and both will be releasing on January 10.


Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) – $79.99/1,066 pieces

Capture the excitement of Lunar New Year family traditions with this colorful LEGO® toy building set (80108) for ages 8 and up. It features 6 brick-built scenes that are packed with authentic details, and each portrays different festive activities, including food shopping, making good-luck decorations, visiting family and exchanging ‘Hongbao’ red envelopes. There are separate building instructions for each of the detailed scenes so the whole family can build together, and the modules can be arranged in multiple ways to create a unique display.

LEGO Reveals New Sets and Partnerships at China International Import Expo

This past weekend, LEGO revealed some new sets at the China International Import Expo which included lines from Monkie Kid, Super Mario, and Chinese Traditional Festival. The Monkie Kid Galactic Explorer and the Lunar New Year sets will be available in China and Asia Pacific markets on December 25 while the Super Mario sets will be available on January 18, 2022. Unfortunately, it did not mention when these sets will be available for the rest of the world except that the Super Mario ones will be in early 2022.

In addition, LEGO has announced a new partnership with Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden to inspire and engage children in sustainability. Furthermore, the company has also signed an agreement with the China Association of the Blind and China Braille Press to launch the LEGO Braille Bricks program in China.

The LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith (21325) is now available for purchase on the LEGO Shop. The set has 2,164 pieces and retails for $149.99. Early consensus is that this will be a pretty popular set despite the changes from the original project submission.
