LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat Animated Special Announced

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Guardians of the Galaxy

Disney’s D23 Expo is going on in Anaheim right now and it was just announced at the Marvel Animation panel that there will be a 22 minute special called LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat. There’s no other details but there is a synopsis from CBR.com below. It doesn’t seem like the special will follow the MCU GotG storyline and will most likely have the same LEGO humor as other LEGO animated shows. There’s no word yet on when or where it will be shown.

When Thanos, Ronan, Nebula and the Ravagers seek to possess the Build Stone — a powerful and creative relic — the fate of the universe depends on the Guardians of the Galaxy to protect it.

Watch LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales Early on Disney XD Site

LEGO Star Wars Droid Tales

If you can’t wait for LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales to air on July 6, well you’re in luck. The whole first episode, Exit from Endor, is available for viewing on Disney XD. The only thing required is that you have to be signed in to your cable or satellite provider. I can confirm that it works on Firefox but I was having some issues with Chrome and Internet Explorer.

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is a five-part miniseries of 22 minute episodes that will retell the six Star Wars films through C-3PO and R2-D2 perspectives.

Following their victory celebration in the Ewok village on Endor, seen at the close of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. An accidental kidnapping occurs while the droids are reminiscing and suddenly viewers are taken on a new adventure that leads to encounters with familiar faces and places that prompt the re-telling of the entire saga. The series offers all of the playful humor that viewers expect from LEGO Star Wars.

Disney XD Acquires LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

Disney has announced that they have acquired LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales from The LEGO Group. As a result of this acquisition, they will be airing the show on Disney XD later this year. LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is an animated series that consists of five 22-minute episodes telling the story of Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace up to Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi from C-3PO and R2-D2’s perspectives.

What’s interesting about this something that was written in the press release. “C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” C-3PO wasn’t fully functional until Anakin activated him when he first met Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on Tatooine. C-3PO was also first introduced to R2-D2 so there wasn’t really any adventures to speak of before that unless the whole story is retconned. We’ll see what happens when the show airs on Disney XD later this year.
