LEGO CUUSOO Back to the Future Locomotive 131

Team BTTF continues to add more impressive Back to the Future sets to LEGO CUUSOO. Today, they have submitted the Locomotive 131 from BTTF 3 to their wide assortment of sets they currently have going at this moment.

The project, as usual, was created by Sakuretu and it features the Locomotive 131 which was used to push the DeLorean to make it reach 88 mph and to make it go back to the present time. Along with the locomotive, the project also includes the tinder or the car that holds the fuel for the train and in this case, it is wood cart. The Locomotive conforms to the LEGO Trains Rail system as well as the Power Functions so if you already have them, you can recreate the ending scene at BTTF 3. But that’s not all! Sakuretu has also included minifigures of Marty McFly, Doc Brown, as well as Clara in their western outfits. Accessories included are Marty’s pink hoverboard and the the colored Presto logs to push the DeLorean up to 88 mph.

If you like what you see, head over to the project page on CUUSOO and show your support. Note that the DeLorean is not included as it is available on Shop@Homeicon.

Update: There is now a video showcasing the Power Functions along with the Locomotive.

LEGO CUUSOO Sherlock Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Sherlock project by flailx is the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. It had massive support from Sherlockology and quickly rose through the ranks of supported CUUSOO projects to reach the milestone. The project is based on the BBC drama of the same name starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The set is recreates the the consultation room in Sherlock Holmes’ flat in 221B Baker St. The room consists of Sherlock’s desk, a couple of chairs, and a fireplace. There are also some details that reminds you of Sherolock’s place such as the hat rack which includes the deerstalker hat. The expanded version of the set will feature everything from the original plus more details of the living room including the couch and the wallpaper in the room. The minifigures that are featured are Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, and Mrs. Hudson while the expanded set may include Jim Moriarty, Inspector Lestrade, Molly Hooper, and/or Mycroft Holmes. The Sherlock project now moves on to the Winter review stage. As a huge fan of the Sherlock TV series, I’m excited to see this project hit 10k supporters. We’ll just have to see what happens when the review stage rolls around. Congratulations to flailx for this amazing achievement!

Congrats on 10,000 Supporters, Flailx!

2013.09.23

10,000 people have become Sher-locked! In almost as short a time as it takes the consulting detective to solve a crime, this project has reached its goal of 10,000 supporters. The enthusiasm fans have shown is quite inspiring!

LEGO Shaun of the Dead Winchester Pub Instructions

Our friends over at Brick Fanatics is starting a new feature on their site where they’ll be sharing LEGO MOC instructions from different various artists who submit their content. If you remember last year, the LEGO CUUSOO Shaun of the Dead Winchester Pub project by Greg Coquelz, aka Yatkuu, was rejected by the LEGO Jury even though it had a massive following from supporters including Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. You’ll be glad to know that Greg has provided the instructions for you to download for free. So if you’ve been wanting to build your own Winchester Pub, well here’s your chance.

Greg has also provided instructions of the Stargate Heavy Machine Gun for free. It doesn’t stop there! There are also premium instructions that you can purchase for a very affordable price of $2 for his Stargate Bookends (see below image). These instructions are also available through Brick Fanatics.

I think this is a very interesting concept by Brick Fanatics because maybe you’ve seen a MOC that you really like and would like to recreate it. If that artist decides to submit their instructions to BF, you can probably get for a certain price or even for free. You’ll be sure that we’ll be featuring more submitted instructions as they become available.

LEGO CUUSOO Macross VF-1 Valkyrie Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Macross VF-1 Valkyrie +Fast pack / Armored parts by maxvf1 is the latest project to reach 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. The VF-1 Valkyrie is based on the variable fighter from the Japanese anime, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. First submitted on October 1, 2011, it shows that slow and steady can also win the race and in this case, the race to 10,000 supporters. The Valkyrie becomes the very first “transforming” set to reach the review stage on CUUSOO and as well as the first set to qualify for the Winter Review stage. Since LEGO encourages creativity and imagination, it would be cool to see something like the Valkyrie with it’s transforming feature become an official set but we’ll see if LEGO can get a licensing deal done with Harmony Gold which has a pretty strict licensing policy.

Congratulations to maxvf1 for getting enough supporters for his Macross project! The Japanese Old Style Architecture project by taxon55 becomes the highest supported project on CUUSOO.

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, maxvf1!

2013.09.09
You did it! What a fantastic build and a great way to celebrate an iconic robot from Japanese animation in LEGO Bricks. As you say, combining construction play with the Valkyrie adds a new level of understanding of how to build transforming models.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept

LEGO CUUSOO Jurassic Park Project by Senteosan Shelved

If you’re a LEGO creator and want to list any Jurassic Park projects on LEGO CUUSOO, don’t bother. Yesterday, Senteosan’s Jurassic Park project was archived after only 6,495 supporters and will not be considered for production. The reason? LEGO posted, “since another company has the construction toy license for this IP, we can’t pursue this further as a potential LEGO set.” Back in February of this year, Hasbro, which owns KRE-O, struck a licensing deal with Universal to produce merchandise for the movie franchise. Because of this deal, any Jurassic Park related projects/sets cannot be created by The LEGO Group and in turn anything that bears the JP mark on CUUSOO will be archived. However, Senteosan does have a separate project for his UCS-style Dinosaur series, Bricksauria and that isn’t Jurassic Park related so it’s still live. If you like the design of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, head over to Senteosan’s page and show your support.

Does this decision discourage creators to propose projects that are other companies’ IPs? No it doesn’t but just bear in mind that LEGO has the right to close down a project if it conflicts with a competitive building brick licensor, aka KRE-O/Mega Bloks. LEGO CUUSOO encourages people submit original ideas so there’s less of a chance that your project will conflict with another company’s license. Below is the official LEGO comment on their decision to close Senteosan’s project.

Decision on Our Ability to Produce this Project

LEGO CUUSOO The Road to Oz Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The latest project to reach 10,000 supporter and the first project to reach the 2013 Fall Review stage is The Road to Oz by JeremiahKC. The project posted on July 15th and has quickly climbed up the ranks of supported projects, especially with the help of 1.8 million fans of The Wizard of Oz Facebook page. The project is the seventh project to hit 10,000 supporters in the quarter and now joins the Female Minifigure Set, the ATLAS Mini Model, FTL: Faster Than Light, the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project, and Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair, TeeKay’s Ghostbusters for the Fall Review. The LEGO Jury will have a pretty hard time choosing the winner for this review stage with so many great projects hitting the goal. Maybe LEGO will set new a precedent of choosing multiple winners during the review stage? We shall see about that in a few months.

The Road to Oz features three vignettes from the 1939 movie. The first shows Dorothy meeting Scarecrow and Tinman for the first time. The second features Dorothy, Scarecrow, and Tinman running into the Wicked Witch of the West as well as meeting the Cowardly Lion. The last vignette shows everyone arriving at the Emerald City at the poppy fields. All three sections are able to attach to each other to create one long yellow brick road or side by side to create a wider road. This project also commemorates the 75th anniversary of the original The Wizard of Oz movie. JeremiahKC’s project … Continue
