LEGO Legends of Chima Ice Tower (70106) Review

In the last of the trilogy of these early LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz sets, YourCreativeFriends has reviewed the Ice Tower (70106) set. It contains 101 pieces and retails for $14.99, which comes to about $0.15/piece. The Ice Tower features Winzar as the minifigure. He’s the same minifig as in previous Chima sets. Like all other Speedorz sets, there are 5 game cards included as well. Again, the set combines with the Jungle Gates (70104) and the Nest Dive (70105) to create a track with obstacles to collect the CHI orb at the end. To see more about the play features, take a look at YCF’s video below.

LEGO Legends of Chima Jungle Gates (70104) Review

YourCreativeFriends has taken a trip to the local LEGO store and have gotten their hands on one of the three new LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz sets, the Jungle Gates (70104). The set contains 81 pieces and retails for $14.99, a $0.19/piece ratio. The Jungle Gates features Lennox as the minifigure included. His Speedorz itself is pretty neat because there are two wheels on the back for easier balancing. What’s interesting with the new wave of Speedorz sets is that they connect to each other to create a race with obstacles. Check out YCF’s video below to see more details of the set.

LEGO Shop@Home Retiring Soon List Updated

LEGO has updated their list of “Retiring Soon” sets on Shop@Homeicon. What’s interesting is the Legend of Chima Speedorz sets are the first in the theme to go away because they just came out late 2012/early 2013. We already know that there will be another wave of Chima sets this summer but it seems a little fast to retire these so early. If you’ve been holding off getting them, I’d suggest picking them up as soon as possible.

Update from LEGO:

Just wanted to clarify that there is no mistake on the Friends and Chima items. The Friends Pets and Chima Speedorz are set to refresh on much shorter timelines than most sets.

New York Toy Fair 2013 LEGO Set Images From YourCreativeFriends

The 2013 New York Toy Fair has kicked off and YourCreativeFriends has sent us some videos and images from various LEGO themes such as Castle, City, Legends of Chima, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and The Lone Ranger. YCF notes that the Marvel and DC Universe sets were strictly off-limits to any photography. Attendees to the LEGO VIP Collector’s Event received a couple of gifts including a Yoda minifigure standing on the sidewalk wearing a white “NY I Love” sweater. The other gift was a carded Darth Vader minifigure wearing a medal from the The Empire Strikes Out animated show. Check out all of YourCreativeFriends’ videos to see which set(s) you might be wanting to pick up later this year.
