LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales Coming to DVD on March 1

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

Earlier today, LEGO announced that LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales will be released on DVD on March 1, 2016. Droid Tales was a five-part series on Cartoon Network that is a retelling of the Star Wars saga told from the eyes of C-3PO and R2-D2. There’s no word on whether there will be an exclusive minifigure for the DVD or not but I’m going to guess no on that.

The fun begins following the victory celebration in the Ewok village on Endor, at the end of STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI. R2-D2 and C-3PO have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE. An accidental kidnapping occurs while the droids are reminiscing, and suddenly you’re taken on a new journey that leads to the retelling of the entire STAR WARS saga, as told by R2-D2 and C-3PO! It’s hilarious and playful, packed with all your favorite interlocking characters. LEGO(R) STAR WARS(TM): DROID TALES is intergalactic thrills for the whole family!

Watch LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales Early on Disney XD Site

LEGO Star Wars Droid Tales

If you can’t wait for LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales to air on July 6, well you’re in luck. The whole first episode, Exit from Endor, is available for viewing on Disney XD. The only thing required is that you have to be signed in to your cable or satellite provider. I can confirm that it works on Firefox but I was having some issues with Chrome and Internet Explorer.

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is a five-part miniseries of 22 minute episodes that will retell the six Star Wars films through C-3PO and R2-D2 perspectives.

Following their victory celebration in the Ewok village on Endor, seen at the close of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. An accidental kidnapping occurs while the droids are reminiscing and suddenly viewers are taken on a new adventure that leads to encounters with familiar faces and places that prompt the re-telling of the entire saga. The series offers all of the playful humor that viewers expect from LEGO Star Wars.

New Details About LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

LEGO Star Wars Droid Tales

At the last panel of day 2 at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, LEGO revealed the trailer for the upcoming Disney XD animated show, LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales. The show will be retelling the Star Wars saga through C-3PO’s eyes.

As I reported before, there will be five 22-minute episodes. Each episode will be divided into the different movies in the saga. The first episode of the show will contain various events from Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Episode II: Attack of the Clones. The second episode will have scenes from Episode III: Revenge of the Sith as well as parts from The Clone Wars. The third episode of Droid Tales will have events from both Episode IV: A New Hope and some from Star Wars Rebels. Episode four will be featuring scenes from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and finally the last 22-minute episode will be for Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

There was also a question and answer session and someone asked will the LEGO Death Star be updated. Obviously, they couldn’t answer it but Jason Cosler did say “Stay tuned for in the future, you’ll be happily surprised with what’s coming out in the future.” If you remember, there was a rumor earlier this month of a new Death Star set coming out next year. I still don’t know if this rumor is reliable or not but keep your eyes peeled.

Droid Tales will be premiering in July and episodes will be airing every month up until … Continue

LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales First Look Promotional Poster

LEGO Star Wars Droid Tales

Back in February, I talked about the announcement that Disney has acquired the rights to LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales from The LEGO Group. We now have a first look at a promotional poster for the show that will be airing on Disney XD this July.

The LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales animated series will have five 22-minute episodes retelling the story of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi from C-3PO and R2-D2’s perspectives but I’m not sure if the show will be totally canon or not. From the looks of the poster, there might also be characters from LEGO Star Wars: Rebels that will be appearing in the show as well like Sabine, Erza, and Kanan. And who’s that mysterious character on the left side above the Ewoks.

Disney XD Acquires LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

Disney has announced that they have acquired LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales from The LEGO Group. As a result of this acquisition, they will be airing the show on Disney XD later this year. LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is an animated series that consists of five 22-minute episodes telling the story of Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace up to Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi from C-3PO and R2-D2’s perspectives.

What’s interesting about this something that was written in the press release. “C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” C-3PO wasn’t fully functional until Anakin activated him when he first met Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on Tatooine. C-3PO was also first introduced to R2-D2 so there wasn’t really any adventures to speak of before that unless the whole story is retconned. We’ll see what happens when the show airs on Disney XD later this year.
